Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Oh now they care about wearing masks.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 56 points 1 month ago

They only want to wear masks when they can do it to harm society. Not help.

It is so unbelievably comically ironic

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

These deplorables wonder why we laugh at them.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

This is the same crowd that was saying to run over protesters for being in the road, now crying about a fed having a car driven in his vicinity.

I thought masks "lowered oxygen levels" or some bulllshit?

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I immediately disregard anything someone says when they start noticing about masks.

Those surgeons wearing them for literal day plus long operations seem to be doing just fine.

Is that geezer on the left wearing a child-sized plate carrier? Or just some Temu special that arrived smaller than expected?

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

I think he is just fat and that vest(?) is not really meant for his size.

[–] MilitantAtheist@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I keep seeing the temu comments all over the Lemmy. What do you think a plate carrier looks like?

From what it looks like, he's wearing a Crye Precision jpc. https://www.cryeprecision.com/JPC-2-0

And yes, he's a fucking chonk.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Presumably people expect protection to cover more than half the torso. Temu is notorious for having the lowest quality grey market QA-failed products for sale at bargain pricing, often receiving incorrect sizes.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

The incorrect sizing mostly stems from the fact it's all stuff made in Asia and they have different sizing systems than either the US or Europe have. You need to get 2 or 3 sizes bigger than normal for it to be normal size over here.

[–] brap@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I guess it’s his size as I expect it to look exactly like it looks on their website. The guy on there makes it look normal.

[–] PunkRockSportsFan@fanaticus.social 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What do we do when see armed masked men

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 month ago

I recommend taking any means necessary.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Not today.

Oh wait that's the god of death.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 12 points 1 month ago

LA judge should ask the DOJ to go fuck itself.

[–] Rhoeri@piefed.world 11 points 1 month ago

Isn’t it The Department of War Crimes now

Like they're doing to obey that law when they're already violating the constitution.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago

"The laws took effect Jan. 1. " No problem, they've already been delayed. Time to get with the program, Masks off, Identification ON.

[–] drdiddlybadger@pawb.social 7 points 1 month ago

How about no.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Is this the law that has exceptions for undercover, environmental, and weather?

Meaning the only reason to be against it is to avoid accountability?

[–] Sgarcnl@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Buncha cunts

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Lol they're upset about the law.
