An FBI investigation is underway after an ICE officer fatally shot a woman in southern Minneapolis on Wednesday, in an incident characterized very differently by local and federal officials.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot behind the wheel of an SUV near the intersection of 34th Street and Portland Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. CT. U.S. President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem both described the woman as an agitator who had been interfering with ICE agents on scene.

Noem, a central figure in Trump's immigration crackdown, said Good ignored officers’ orders to get out of her vehicle and "weaponized" the SUV by deliberately trying to ram into the officer. She said the agent shot the driver three times in self-defence.

"After a thorough 12-hour investigation, we have concluded Good fired 3 shots into her own face, committing suicide after being apprehended for committing violent protests and shooting 44 ICE agents"

fascists: "we murdered her because she was a terrorist"

reality: fascists label her "terrorist" because they murdered her

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago

Well, I mean, murder creates martyrs. Martyrs drive revolutions. By supporting a revolution, she is a terrorist. There is a certain shitty logic to it.

FBI is there to cover for the fascists, to make sure it stays a federal issue. Pedo can only pardon federal cases.

Worst part of all of this is no one is asking who the murderer is, name, titles, address, etc. Ofc the victim is identified and plastered everywhere in the news, but not the murderer.

Someone snapped these from the vid on another Lemmy post

The state can still technically charge the murderer even if the feds don't, though. They're definitely there for propaganda and to muddy the water either way, so still to cover for the fascists.

Kash Patel's FBI? That one? Yeah... no thanks.

Can we get a serious person to do a real investigation instead of a bullshit self-assessment by the Trump administration. A woman was murdered in broad daylight you fucks.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

The federal bureau of there are no Epstein files? I'm sure they will be REAL thorough with this one!

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 31 points 1 month ago

The FBI has absolutely NO credibility. The woman was unarmed. Her murderer closed in and acted aggressively.
THIS IS WHERE WE ARE!

Is Patel's girlfriend providing entertainment ?

[–] r00ty@kbin.life 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, I've seen this video and sure the driver was at their worst causing a nuisance to ICE. I'm not convinced that should be crime worthy of a death sentence by an "agent" that thinks he's a street judge.

What I saw entirely contradicts the narrative the US administration is trying to pedal.

The ICE agent was at no point under threat. Rather than move out of the way of the vehicle (which was turning away from him anyway), he stayed where he was and drew a firearm. It's clear this move was designed to make them stop and get out of the car. Instead she (and I think in quite a valid way) panicked and tried to drive away. He fired, THEN moved out of the way and fired more. A clear, calculated move on his part.

Objectively it's an attempt to completely rewrite the narrative to say she weaponized the vehicle, that the agent was run over, or that he was in fear for his life. These are all very obvious lies.

Now, I'm an outsider here. But I have to say this does make me think of other dictatorships and autocrats of the past and present. They need citizens to fear for their lives when they encounter agents of the state. This was true in Germany of the gestapo, and they want it to be true in the US of ICE. If they are successful in protecting this agent. If this does not go to trial (and it MUST be a State trial, for obvious reasons) then I fear this is the reality you will face.

The rest of the world cannot help you. We can only watch in horror as events like this unfold.

Remember they want the FBI to make it a federal crime so Trump can pardon them. State level prosecution is necessary to avoid this.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Walz ordering the National Guard to shoot ICE on sight is what's necessary.

Also, the FBI is currently run by Kash "Bug Eyes" Patel, another one of Trump's picks. If he gets put in charge of any "investigation" he's going to say that ICE did nothing wrong.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 22 points 1 month ago

Im so glad Kash Patel and the gang are on the case! We will certainly have justice now. /s

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

He needs to be prosecuted at the state level because no federal agency can be trusted and Trump has the power to pardon. Every ICE member present needs to be prosecuted as an accessory.

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fascist investigate fascist.

I'm sure they will get to the bottom of this case. Fast.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago

The FBI just kicked the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension off the case as well, which means it'll be a cover-up of massive proportions.

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension withdraws from ICE shooting investigation, says FBI blocked access to evidence The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) – the state’s top investigative agency – announced today that it would be withdrawing from the investigation into the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis by a federal immigration agent.

Fuck the FBI they shouldn't exist either.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Given the fast-brewing backlash, I bet they'll throw the gravy seal under the bus in order to relieve the pressure.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Tbh I'd be a little surprised if they did anything to appease anyone at this point.

Like honestly. No one has been stopping this administration from actual war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the FBI are right in line. I'd be willing to bet that they either stall as long as they can, or just outright announce that their investigation found no wrongdoing and he was perfectly justified and will be right back out on the street; maybe with a shiny new medal.
