Donald Trump has confirmed that he wore compression socks to treat his cankles amid growing scrutiny over his health as America’s oldest president.

In an explosive interview about his medical treatments, Trump also admitted that he applies makeup to his hands, saying that the large daily dose of aspirin he takes to thin his blood causes them to bruise easily.

The Daily Beast has led the way in reporting on Trump’s efforts to hide his swollen ankles and the globs of makeup on his hands. Other media outlets largely ignored these issues, and the president and his inner circle have adamantly denied that he had any problems.

But in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Trump said he wore medical compression socks to help with swelling in his ankles.

Lmao is he really America's oldest president now? Finally?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 17 points 3 hours ago

So he definitely had that stroke

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 3 hours ago

Million dollar scam idea: sell MAGA hand makeup.

Along with cankle socks.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 17 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

If he bruises easily are they sure blood thinners are a good idea? I'm all for regime change through internal haemorrhage, but this once again sounds like bullshit.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 8 points 2 hours ago

Tbf he says that he bruises easily because he takes massive amounts of aspirin as a blood thinner. Against doctors' advice if I read that correctly.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Well, it's either blood thinners or death by stroke/infarction. The man's blood must be like mollases without the thinners, he eats like shit and barely exercises, except the golfing trips.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 6 minutes ago

I don't care if he dies from a stroke or from a heart attack, as long as he gets on with it.

[–] thefluffiest@feddit.nl 33 points 4 hours ago

Great. Now release ALL of the Epstein files.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago

He could easily go years this way. His brain will be Swiss cheese, but Miller is running things anyway.

I have 80 year old grandparents. Love em to death. It blows my mind thinking of anybody that age running the country.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 55 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

~~running~~ ruining the country

ftfy

[–] digredior@lemmynsfw.com 13 points 7 hours ago

I have no problem believing someone would be ruining the country if they were in charge.

They're not the sharpest anymore. But personally I have a bigger problem with Trump's personality and lack of ethics, regardless of age.

Also imagine your grandpa (or -ma!) using that makeup for - what? Hide that you're old? It doesn't work!

He can't remember when he's supposed to lie about shit.

One of these days we'll stop electing 80+ year old dementia patients to run America

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

No we wont. The uneducated will continue to believe what Fox, Facebook, and X tell them to believe.

America has an idiot problem, and it wasnt an accident.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

....

Yes, they will

But you realize we can educate people right?

Like, someone that uneducated today only stays uneducated if no one educated them, and whether or not you want to "help" them, we're all better off if we educate them.

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 22 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder if his dementia will progress to the point where he starts inadvertently reliving old, sick Epstein memories while live

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 26 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I think this is a big reason they're so desperate for people to stop talking about it...

trump would admit to wild shit a decade ago, he's undoubtedly worse now. Someone asking him ""what's the youngest woman who's slept with you?" In a "nice" manner would likely get him to just openly admit to raping a child.

If it's not phrased in a way that he gets defensive, he's liable to just fucking answer.

[–] boydster@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 hours ago

"What is the age of your youngest partner?" would be a great question for him to be asked, and a skillful interviewer could absolutely get him to answer with pride about his misdeeds as he describes several instances of varying levels of horror before arriving at the single event he thinks TACOs all.

[–] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 11 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

If I remember correctly, it was known before his first presidency that he walked in on underaged girls changing. Also, "grab them by the pussy". He's extremely obviously been a shitty person for a long time and it literally does not matter at all

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 9 points 5 hours ago

His ascending to public knowledge was for being a racist prick when he was renting out his daddy's properties landing him in legal trouble. This man has never been good.

Boooooring

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago

Whoever asked the monkey paw for "interesting times" is a fucking dick

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

You haven't been paying attention. Trump gained younger voters in 2024. He didn't need "boomers" to become President. He needed money, lies, and young men to vote for him, which they did.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

Maybe covid changed things enough but I wouldn't be surprised if what happened with his first term happened again. Basically when I was in highschool circa 2016 there was a solid group of guys who supported him by the time we graduated in 2018 that had more or less evaporated, and amongst my friends the opinions shifted from ambivalent at worst to outright venomous at best by 2020. But then again we're all on the older half of gen z so we overlap with millennials on a lot of things, perhaps it's another generation jones situation.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I doubt it. With the caveat that unless Donvict and pals completely fuck up/stall out/reverse breakthroughs in medicine - dementia may become a thing of the past, I suppose.

But I seriously doubt there is any substantive difference between people born between arbitrary years, labeled "boomers", and any other set of people born between arbitrary years.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 26 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

Why would he admit to it now, and for a large outlet like WSJ? We all got used to him lying about it endlessly.

edit: taking a closer look at the original article, there really is no reason for conspiratorial thought: it's just an old man babbling.

PS: the pictures of his hands are horrendous.

PPS:

He insisted in the interview that he is in excellent shape and puts it down to “good genetics.”

[–] ultranaut@lemmy.world 24 points 6 hours ago

He is increasingly disinhibited, it's one of the things that happens in old age as time takes its toll on brain functions. Really old people will just say whatever, a lot like drunk people do.

[–] Plurrbear@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Yet, Bernie “was too old” by the “polls” and the DNC but he could have won but instead they put up Hillary and again Kamala?!?! MONEY!

Drumpf has ONLY won against women, who would have thought?!

And Bernie is still out there holding strong with no ailments and still having AMERICAN VOTERS VOICES HEARD FIRST! It’s so upsetting watching the fall of America into oligarchs and fascism!! Fuck both parties!

Time to clean house and drain the swamp plus set term limits!! Get it together America, it’s embarrassing!!!

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

Drumpf has ONLY won against women, who would have thought?!

A woman could've beaten Trump. Just not a neoliberal one.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 29 points 8 hours ago

Trump said he wore medical compression socks to help with swelling in his ankles.

He also sleeps in a straitjacket to help with his swelling dementia.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I mean, isn't he still lying? I bet they stick him with some kind of juice in those spots on his hands. They're in the same spot on both.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Those spots are really common locations for access to veins in older patients. Also as people age their blood vessels become a lot more fragile, especially the veins, and will break at the slightest damage, especially when he's on blood thinners too.

But yeah they are definitely giving him some sort of IV medication or fluids.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Assuming he actually takes aspirin, he's not lying, he's misdirecting: the infusions cause bruising, the aspirin makes it more noticable.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Don't you think they're sticking him a lot though? For them to go to a noticeable place, they've probably tried all other locations. My guess is that they fluid him up every day with either electrolytes or some kind of dementia meds. He's wearing a bandaid, they may even have a permanent stint in there.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 6 points 6 hours ago

It depends on what type of treatment he's getting and whether it requires an IV or an infusion. There's speculation that he's getting infusions for Alzheimer's (either Leqembi or Kisunla); both treatments would explain the bruising on his hands, and also require periodic checks with an MRI.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

So... Can any medical expert tell us if this sets any life expectancy limits?

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

All the way up to the end of his term.

[–] mrsilkworm@piefed.social 4 points 6 hours ago

A straight jacket might help him with an allover compression!

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca -1 points 5 hours ago

Every person that age takes many MANY pills to keep going each day.

[–] tehsillz@lemmy.world -2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Hope he lives to 150 so America finally gets what it deserves.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

I'm at least in favor of leaving any of the stupid shit he destroyed or built as-is for another 250 years as a reminder of how fucking stupid we were.
