I feel it should be specified that he means they cannot be at his inaugeration not that he is expressing a desire to generally ban these devices in the city because that is how I originally understood it.

What an incredibly misleading headline holy shit

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s journalistic malpractice. Once there was an article that said “AI gets more covertly racist as it gets smarter” and that is a clear intentional framing to make racists look good. Headlines are everything.

No investigation [of the text below the headline], no right to speak [about the topic].

the people who seem to be sexually gratified by chronicling the fall of Mamdani, the man who is still not yet mayor, using misleading headlines? i'm shocked i swear

I think this is probably just part of standard good security protocal now.

the type of person bringing a device like this to a block party is not the type of person to take a request like this seriously

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

If anything, some portion of the people who attend block parties are the sort to actively seek out something once you tell them its not supposed to be at the block party.

He just hates script kiddies and only wants to party with people cool enough to make their own PCBs classic

I can imagine some conservative cranks doing some signal catching/cloning things to get as much ID info on everyone who goes to the inauguration as possible, but I also assume the NYPD is doing that themselves for the same purposes

Only pegasus vulnerable devices allowed, plebs shouldn’t spy on their betters

Smh any mayor that bans my cyberdeck, in New York of all places, is no mayor of mine.

Pineapples are cool though.

What a fucking traitor.

But like what is he afraid of? Someone hacks a teleprompter and he goes Ron Burgundy?

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

i'm sure the people running an event simply don't want the disruption. this is primarily a fair and normal "hey we'll kick you out" message, and it's only news because of racism and celebrity.

Zohran says gtfo here with that overpriced shit. Only Pine64 fans are allowed
