Trump is an emergent phenomenon. He comes from us. He is not a foreign object to be removed, he is a symptom of what our system produces. You cannot simply remove the symptom, you have to cure the disease. For all of the progress you are pointing at, it did nothing to stop this from happening. Biden had kids in solitary confinement and was genociding Gaza. Obama drone strikes weddings and funerals and funerals of the people who were killed at the weddings. Clinton had black house slaves as governor of Arkanas.

Correct. That's an escalation. But ICE detentions under Biden grew by over 50%. Biden had immigrant children in solitary confinement which causes brain damage and is considered a crime against humanity by everyone in the world. Bush and Obama oversaw torture in Guantanamo and international kidnappings of people and even their transportation to CIA black sites around the world so they could be tortured. Every single president escalated. Every one. Not a single president made things better. Trump is the next escalation.
WHY is it that Trump's escalations seem so much more escalatory? Because the collapse of the US is happening faster than ever. The economy is failing, the US military is failing, the US social fabric is failing, there's no possibility of a New Deal intervention working under the current national and global economic conditions. He and Hillary conducted a brutal and devastating campaign to destroy Libya, the most prosperous country on the continent of Africa, and left is in ruin to become an open-air slave market.

But more to the point, Obama didn't do anything to reverse the majority of what Bush did. He relied on the precedents set, just as all the presidents have. Nixon made heroin and cannabis federally illegal in order to manipulate the vote. Everyone in politics has known this for decades. No one has reversed it. Actually, Trump might reverse the cannabis one. Not that this excuses him.

Bush absolutely destroyed all sorts of checks and balances and got near-limitless power, which has be maintained by every president since. Warrentless wiretapping? Mass surveillance? Authorization to attack every country on earth? Indefinite detention without trial in the torture dungeon at Guantanamo? He was not held accountable for any of it, because as Edward Snowden revealed, Obama wanted to keep most of it going himself. That's why he became public enemy #1 and was hunted to the ends of the earth.

Clinton was an architect behind mass incarceration, Obama doubled down on the pointless war in Afghanistan and did nothing to roll back the surveillance state, etc. Even if it was just Bush, that still wouldn't be "cherry picking" because Bush was president for a substantial time within the period you mentioned.

This is one of the worst prisons in America in one of the poorest states, for those who aren’t from the US thinking this is the norm. That said, I fully support CJ reform and situations like this Alabama Prison or the insane schemes Arpaio devised need to be completely eradicated.
