The uni didn't even properly publicize the new policy. It came out during a debate and the student newspaper published it.

“During the course of the debate, it was disclosed that it is now policy of the university to suspend any faculty member with pay against whom a student has lodged a complaint. The faculty member is suspended under the Title IX program,” Schmeltzer wrote. “This was new information to everyone in attendance.”

This might be too much of a hot take, but it's not even truly a Bible-based essay. She quotes one term from the Bible without citation and then prattles on about God without further reference to any other term or part in the Bible afterward. It's a "my personal relationship with God as dictated by dogwater Christian apologetics and theocracy"-based essay

Yeah I definitely got away with taking on very fringe positions in college essays because I was actually citing my sources. She basically was just ranting like she was blowing off steam to a friend!

What's even worse is she probably doesn't even know which apologist she is getting her bullshit from. At least back in the day the fundies were able to point you to a preacher to source their bullshit.

Since her mom is a Jan 6 lawyer, she might actually know in this case. This is someone who was planning to make a scene, not just a fundie being spontaneously silly.

Oh lol, yeah she's a clout-chasing plant for sure.

reminder that the "bible based essay" was bad by design, the chud in question wrote it as a calculated move to get a leg up on the right-wing grift ladder and harm a trans woman
it's why she immediately gave the story to tpusa, it's why she has already had speaking engagements
criticism of the essay itself misses the forest for the trees

Her mom is a right wing freak lawyer who defended some of the Jan 6 people, the grift is so transparent lmao

Somehow I don't think this policy would actually be applied equally to all faculty or all complaints

I always wonder why 'suspended with pay' is considered a punishment.

Pay me to stay home? Oh no the horror

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago

Academia is like the only place that makes sense as a punishment because academics are largely insane workaholics

that seems like a pog move while you search for a job not in genocide central

I actually think that by itself a policy of temporary suspension in response to student complaints is a good idea. Of course this student is not in the right, but there are a lot of shitty lecturers out there.

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

Yeah ngl it would’ve been nice if my uni listened to the metric ton of complaints about the organic chem lecturer. Dude was a terrible teacher and an asshole.

Cancel culture but its ok because its redpilled.

So, if get a job there and have one student complain about me me repeatedly and I'd never have to show up to work?
