Poor Henry Selick, actual director of nightmare before Christmas.

Anytime I hear anything about Tim Burton now, I just feel bad for Selick.

Needs to be more specific to narrow it down. "Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (Burton's wife) make out in this movie"

[–] ogeist@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ex-wife* they were together 13 years

[–] FarceOfWill@infosec.pub 8 points 1 month ago

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not when there's a clue in the name of the category. That's the point of jeopardy, you actually have 2 clues.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Joke's on you, the name of this category is "Music by Danny Elfman."

[–] Mozingo@lemmy.world 39 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Johnny Depp wasn't in fight club lol

Anyway, what is Corpse Bride?

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nor was it directed by Tim Burton.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Are you sure? I'm pretty certain that I remember Tim Burton’s Fight Club in which Johnny Depp plays a haunted sandwich that was an allegory for Don King. My favorite scene is the one where the love interest is told that she has to be realistic, because she can't live with a haunted sandwich. So she eats the sandwich and dies from food poisoning.

Tell me you don't remember this very real movie that I didn't make up.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Tbf I want to watch this more than any "real" movie.

*Johhny Depp bites sandwich, suddenly he starts a transformation, much like your typical Dr. Jekyll situation with the screams and the contorting the body, then when the smoke clears the only difference is he has Don King's hair and voice/affectations.*

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

only difference is he has Don King's hair and voice/affectations.

And constantly reminding everyone that he's, in fact, a turkey club sandwich. And he has a few leaves of lettuce poking out from his collar.

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

I think you are getting Fight Club mixed up with the criminally overlooked 'Franken-Hoagie'.

Easy mistake.

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 month ago

What is Alice in Wonderland?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

score updates to -$500

(Whoops, I got him mixed up with Brad Pitt, apparently. I guess you could say he was a figment of my imagination.)

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 month ago

Johnny Depp was actually Bitch Tits. Practical effects had reached their zenith.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What is love? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more.

[–] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

What is a night at the Roxbury?

[–] very_well_lost@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

I am Jack Sparrow's smirking revenge

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

It depends on the name of the category.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What is Charlie Shadows and the Lone Alice Bride of Fleet Street?

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ok... you've stumped me on "Lone." I think I get the rest, but...

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No one ever watched that movie

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The editors and the director have at least seen it in its entirety, based on my limited understanding of how movies are made.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wait...I know Depp was in that, but Burton and Carter didn't have anything to do with it, did they?

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Carter was in it, but Burton was uninvolved.

[–] EfreetSK@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Always reminds me this great piece with Ricky Gervais

Oh, brilliant. I'd only seen the one with Liam Neeson before.

Tim Burton (1) really only directs dark movies (tonally, not luminously), and (2) went through a phase where everything he did either involved the actress Helena Bonham Carter (including his marriage, for a while) or the actor Johnny Depp (to whom he was not married), or both.

The question for this Jeopardy answer could equally be any of five things:

  • What is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? (the 2005 film, not to be confused with the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

  • What is Corpse Bride?

  • What is Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street?

  • What is Alice in Wonderland? (the 2010 live action one)

  • What is Dark Shadows?

And if you add in his executive producer credits, you can toss in the Alice in Wonderland sequel, too.

Sorry. It's actually what is you gotta be kidding me?
