The actual sci fi curses of firefly is when they need the characters to curse so the show momentarily remembers that all the characters are actually supposed to be Chinese.
Are they supposed to be Chinese or has language just sort of merged over time or become a defacto language of the verse?
The "Alliance" is an alliance between China and the US (Who have absorbed some other countries), the settlers are supposed to originate 50% from Chinese people, 50% everyone else.
The 200th episode of Stargate has a great bit mocking Farscape where the dialogue completely devolves into nonsense curse words
Loved how they handled that whole throwaway bit where Michael Shanks plays Ben Browder's character, Ben Browder plays not-Chewbacca, and Thor is the farting muppet

Edit: Rome is not fantasy or sci-fi but it’s funny that they opted not to use actual Roman swear words since they are too appalling even for HBO.
Also the nazi salute they do in the show is not historical. Bizarre and sus editorial choice there.
And the second season was literally “we are the good slave owners.” The show got canceled because it was too expensive but it’s difficult to cheer for characters who think that owning slaves is normal.
It's a great show though. And all the main characters are all clearly awful people, I don't think your are expected to cheer for any of them.
