Unions are centrist. Don't you know the anarcho-syndicalists of revolutionary Catalonia all voted for Andrew Yang? And only far left anarchist democrats like Bernie Sanders want universal healthcare.

fucking hate that goddamn compass. political illiteracy made manifest

[–] Fossifoo@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, it kinda fits right in-between "Strengthen Your Relationship with Astrology" and "Discover Your Sexual Persona".

[–] huf@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

And MBTI or what was that corporate manager horoscope

"Purity"
Purity of what motherfucker?

[–] Umechan@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

This is what makes me think it might be AI. It could be Christian purity culture, but auth right has a long history of being against "sexual immorality" as part of their supremecist beliefs. It might even be a dog whistle for "racial" purity. But I tell you what it isn't. It's definitely not the right to have pure and untainted food. The "lib" right is all for bumping up the sawdust content until market forces tell them otherwise.

Thoughtlessness

freedom of movement of who? fucking ice agents? the only thing liberal cares about is freedom of capital to move across borders.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

The CIA agent who invented political compass memes deserved a raise. They're a perfect way to make the ignorant feel informed and like they're listening to "all sides" while actively making them more ignorant.

Right to protest? How authoritarian!

[–] Egonallanon@feddit.uk 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think my favourite part of this is swapping the red and blue to do the old "Nazis are socialists" game.

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think it's just more of an America-brained move so that Republicans=red and the Democrats are authleft somehow

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Still waiting for them to start calling each other tankies on national television.

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 month ago

How is universal healthcare left libertarian but universal income is left slight-authoritarian? Obviously they’re not entirely identical ideas but they’re close enough that they should be near each other on the chart.

[–] Umechan@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago

My guess is because it was created by either AI or a moron.

[–] BabyTurtles@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

I hate absolutely everything about it, 10/10 ragebait

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What the fuck are the axis labels anyway?

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think it’s supposed to be left wing - right wing on the X axis and authoritarian - libertarian on the Y axis.

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

Ah, yeah that makes sense. I was wondering what the a wascolumbo-donk

Claiming meritocracy for the far right when the CPC is probably the most meritocratic organisation I've ever seen is wild. I genuinely can not think of a more meritocratic org, even historically.

it means social darwinism

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

The merit = being white

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't think we should use "merit" at all, it's a pretty impractical notion that can have essentialist undertones depending on the context

Merit is commonly used to denote admirable effort relative to a certain set of conditions. For example, someone achieving something despite having a certain handicap has more merit than someone who doesn't have said handicap

The CPC rewards competence with a result-oriented policy of evaluation, members are evaluated according to their objective contribution to the effort, it doesn't take into account if the person had to struggle a lot to achieve something small

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't think it should take into account the amount someone struggled. What matters most is the result itself.

I get that this means that people with a handicap will advance less in the party but the purpose of the party is to get the best outcome for the largest number of people surely? This is going to result in a low representation of disability at higher levels but separate bodies can be created specifically for the issues those people face so as to reduce/prevent discrimination that might stem from that low representation.

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Mostly agree, I just tend to obsess over terminology chomsky-yes-honey

Unions are centrist, since they're generally liked by both Marxists and Anarchists

[–] DylanMc6@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

i support left-libertarian, and i support:

  1. separation of church and state
  2. community
  3. defunding police
  4. universal income
  5. right to protest
  6. pro-choice
  7. right to vote
  8. freedom of speech
  9. freedom of gender expression
  10. freedom of movement
  11. unions

does that make me syncretic enough?

David Graeber advocates for UBI at the end of Bullshit Jobs: A Theory, and then immediately backpedals and admits to the caveat of "but we'd have to implement regulations for pricing and rent controls too"
