So, 5 years ago, Repubs on Fox said during COVID that grandma should be left to succumb to illness for the sake of the economy. And now they're saying don't buy your grandma anything for Christmas this year because of the economy.

Don't these morons realize that the elderly are pretty much their primary viewing audience?

And furthermore, why is this elderly population just fine with being absolutely shit on by the network they support?

As someone with a maga mother who watches fox news constantly and who is a grandma to my daughter, I'm gunna have to try real hard not to smirk this year.

Buy her just a pair of slippers. Make the wrapping really extravagant. Act indignant when she isn’t impressed.

It's funny because all of the people they vote into office are elderly.

America puts the economy above everything else. To tell Americans to not spend money is admitting we're not doing well. I'm surprised they let this air.

"fuck grandma" is a hell of a message from Republicans to close the year...

I'd rather they fuck grandmas than grandkids

The first one is still taken figuratively I hope.

I mean at least the grandma could consent

It's been a constant message of their's since the first Trump regime. That, and fuck the grandchildren.

She's just afraid, because gamgam is going to beat her with those slippers.

The actual quote is a lot more tame than "fuck grandma".

“Budget, budget, budget,” Warshaw said. “You need a plan. Also, remember, adults don’t need gifts, OK.

“Focus on the people in your life who are aged three to 18. Grandma doesn’t need slippers. If they don’t live by you, don’t get them a gift. Now’s not the time to spend and break the bank sending packages across the country.”

I agree with all this. Even more, I'd add to focus on smaller, handmade gifts for kids. Fuck the American consumeristic holiday mindset. I've not given a single gift more than $20 since I was a teenager and I don't think I've received one (certainly not asked for one) in that same time. It's dumb, wasteful, guilting, is only perpetuated to make profit for the corporations, and no, Grandma probably doesn't actually need slippers.
