Thats like asking if sober people are miserable and depressed without weed

These sorts of sentiments are always such self-reports.

"Without god, do atheists feel lost and confused?" → "I can't deal with my life without somebody else telling me what to do!"

"Without threat of damnation, how do atheists not go around stealing and raping and murdering?" → "I'm a sick fuck who is only stopped from harming others by fear of punishment."

Etc.

"Everyone needs to be told how to behave so who tells atheists?"

That seems to be the reasoning there. Except so many priests ignore god's will so they can diddle kids so what's the point of being told how to behave if you can just ignore it anyway?

To replace the guidance of God, you could also just role dice, the results are similar.
GPS on the other hand, is way superior guidance to any imaginary friend.

not-ironically, casting lots was one method of how the will of god was determined.

As for GPS, it rather depends. GPS can tell you where you are... but it can't tell you how to get to where you're going... the map apps do that, but it rather depends on the app.

Cleromancy

Never heard that before.
Goddammit religion is moronic. 🤣 🤣 🤣

It’s extra fun when the stones are loaded and they’re using them to figure out who was the murderer.

God needs a little help.

I mean yea, but god doesn't exist so wtf am I supposed to do other than figure it out on my own?

I feel more sure about myself than I see people who believe in God do. They always have to pray for the right answer. Critical thinking enables me to make decisions on my own.

I'm atheist as well, but prayer can work like mindfulness meditation. There's just an extra step.

"Why would you allow yourself to feel unhappy sometimes when you can just get high from huffing paint all day?"

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 days ago

I can read a map so don't even need GPS.

Do you have a moment for our Lord and Savior, WGS84?

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can have a voice in my head that helps me find the right direction. I don't attribute it to some god though, and it never pushes me to think it's such a thing.

Some people don't have an internal monologue. Which makes me wonder if many of those who DO have an internal monologue had it chalked up to "God". Maybe by a priest or parent or other authority figure. Especially at a time where the internal monologue was less understood. Just a thought.

Not exactly sure how a god could guide me. It's not like I lost the path, I've never had it to begin with.
