What's funny to me about this post is that there are aspects that resonate with me, but based on some of the negative feedback regarding "omg me too!!" comments, folks get upset that a "neurotypical" experiences something, potentially similarly - but not to the same debilitating degree.
Especially funny those who after all this insist, insist that this is just normal behaviour. Everyone does it. Absolutely nothing to see here.
If everyone is super, then nobody is super.
If we all have some form of ADHD then does it still count as a disorder?

Fun fact! I first sought diagnostic testing for ADHD after so many memes resonated at a spiritual level. Brain drugs are awesome and now I won't have to file for bankruptcy because of never actually sending any goddamn invoices to my customers
Sending invoices sucks 😞
Ita been known I saw ADHD since I was a like a toddler, but never have tried any medicines for it because my mom was strongly against such (and the doctor was wrong with their prediction that I would struggle in school). But invoices are a thing over the past couple years that have been making me want to try...
I didn't get diagnosed until I was in my mid-forties. I'm from the same generation of "drugs for kids are bad, just let them be kids", with an added sprinkling of "my kid can't have ADHD, he's too smart".
Dude•, I fully endorse behavioral changes to mitigate ADHD behaviors, but they only go so far. As my address levels increased with age, my coping methods gradually fell apart, and then very suddenly collapsed. I spent the last three months drinking shit-loads of coffee and spending all of my office time playing FTL instead of taking care of essential administrative tasks. It was getting bad.
The point is, therapy and behavioral changes are good. But they have limits. Don't rule out medication, just trust the doctor to know their shit. Also advocate for yourself if the doctor is too cautious. Mine was worried about stimulants and my blood pressure at my age and (lack of) cardiovascular health. It hasn't been a problem at all
~~eta: •dude is officially a gender neutral term btw~~
e^2: i have been told the above is more harmful than not. I'm not too proud to admit I have more to learn

You don’t get to decide that for anyone.
I'm going to look this up in the book of Sam's law.
…
Oh, look at that! It says dude is gender neutral. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go find a redneck that put trucknuts on his Dodge Ram and congratulate him on helping his truck transition to male

I haven't talked to a doctor. Scheduling an appointment is the first obstacle, but I intend to try to get medicine soon™. My blood pressure and HR are generally low, so I'm not too worried about stimulants.

Putting this disclaimer generally comes across as much more combative and much more like intentional misgendering than simply using words like "dude" and "guy" in gender neutral ways.

Fair. I'll make another edit
Same, but I'm still stuck in the "I sent an email to an ADHD specialist 6 months ago to get an appointment but he hasn't replied yet, I should probably look for another one" phase.
I'm stuck at the "I don't have £1500 to pay for ADHD treatment guess I'll just die" level xD
1500 pounds? Stop stealing our USA medical pricing structure!
It took me two years to find someone that not only would take Medicaid, but also would do the diagnostic testing in a way that would not cost me anything out of pocket.
After months of chasing down "in network" therapists and psychiatrists, leaving voicemails and getting ghosted, do you know how I found them? They were a customer I installed hardware for. I casually asked if they took Medicaid and could do ADHD diagnostic testing and the on site contact was like "Yeah, no problem. And we know how to code it so Medicaid will pay for it. Just fill out the online form and we'll get you started that week."
If you have a friend to rely on to keep pinging the doc and cc-ing you, that was what finally got me there in the end. The specialist in my town was (you guessed it) incredibly ADHD themselves and in dire need of a personal assistant.
I've just asked my partner to "grab me by the scruff of the neck and force me to take an appointment", as soon as possible. Thanks for your message, it actually gave me the momentum I needed to get moving
Ugh, yeah. Same. But I also have social anxiety on top of it so I couldn't possibly keep bugging them until I get an appointment lmao I know I need to and that's what I should do but brain says no. Such goofy shit sometimes
You sound like the finance department at my company!
My boss is a slave-driving asshole that doesn't pay me enough. Accounting has their head so far up their ass they can see their own duodenum. Scheduling thinks I can be in two places at once, and purchasing seems to think materials magically appear on site the day they're ordered
I am, of course, self employed, and do all of the administrative tasks myself
You deserve a raise, go ask your "boss".
I a saw a meme from ADHDinos that made me go to the doctor. Im 45.
So you are saying that memes are making the world a better place, right? .. right?
The meme stabbed them in the gut.
Wait till you find out that a decent potion of adhd memes also get cross posted in autism places.
Those are normal behaviors dialed up to 11 and causing problems.
Right?!
