i don't really want to live in a country where the death penalty is a thing that happens, but for serious, if everybody involved with the payday loan industry were dragged out into the streets and summarily executed, i wouldn't even complain about the noise.

for an angry and vengeful God to bring some olde timey wrath to the userers.
I might. There are ways to do that more quietly than a gun. A like gurgling noise and a little screaming or some wet thuds would not be so loud I'd hear it from my apartment.
There really aren't many of these assholes.
Retvrn to black hood and axe
I wake up. There's another predatory payday loan.
predator drone
predator loan
carrying out loan-strikes on weddings and funerals (they cost a lot of money).
I wanted to check how much that loan would cost over 10 years, but online loan calculators don't even let you enter interest rates above 100%

4,000×(3.795)^10
$4000×(1+rate as decimal)^years (assuming yearly compounding)
Which means $2,478,436,484.67 Or $20k/month on average
A 5% rate is only ~$6500
If it's compounded monthly, you divide the rate by 12 and multiply the years by 12, which gives you $326,668,159,170,121.94 over the term.
Yeah, compounding interest breaks down when you go over 100% lol
You say it "breaks down" but all I see is infiniprofit
A 5% rate is only ~$6500
"Only" 2500 profit for the hard work of letting you use their money
That's assuming you don't pay down principal. If you're paying more than $20/month on it you'll be paying less in interest every month. Whereas the 279% loan means you need to pay almost 3x the principal every month or it grows
Basically no one will give a 5% loan unless it's a mortgage with a huge down payment or you're borrowing from your 401k. Most rates are closer to 10% from banks/credit unions. A 5% loan almost beats inflation right now.

my kneecaps hurt just thinking about this
microloans returning home, brings tears to the eyes
I remember when that was trash touted as a liberal NGO solution to bringing finance to the global South. Pt-tew, pt-tew I spit! Bro what we need is public-private partnerships bro, what we need is government policies to incentivize private investment bro, just one more time I swear!
we lent this poor village woman 500 dollars at 300%, and she made successful cloth repair shop. don't ask us about other 9 women or why i'm now a billionaire
Those loans not looking so micro after a few months
All of this shit used to be illegal and the people who changed all that have names and addresses they live at and idk just saying but maybe they shouldn't be allowed to live at them anymore, wink wink

But the capellans were not that great to their citizens.

Iwwish I could say it was just because of how bad guy coded they were but even post dark age they've kept them kinda terrible to their people (still better than the earlier stuff but damn daoshen is shitty).
Edit, and apparently some of the new novels have actually included stuff outside of what used to be Steiner territories to finally go into daoshens daughter (idk why they made her parents the way they did 🤮)
I wish I could say it was just because of how bad guy coded they were
Every BT faction is written as a hat. Liao is yellow peril space china, Kurita is yellow peril space feudal japan, davion is space british empire, Steiner is space prussians, Marik fights themselves more often than anyone else, Comstar is the space catholic church that is also a telephone company, the Word of Blake is post 9/11 depictions of space Islam, the Clans are varying degrees of horseshoe theory, and the fallen (first) Star League is the roman empire that everyone has a circle jerk over, and the Magistracy of Canopus is where the cat girls are.
I don't understand how a loan like this is legal because that's pretty much impossible to actually pay back
Something like that just is unsustainable and collapses under its own impossible obligations
Klarnation Revolution
A $4000 loan could purchase a delightful firearm that one might use for legal purposes such as home defense, and for advancing no other illegal outcomes, I assure you.
