"My brutally violent mid-20th century gang that used to run the crime in this city would have HATED this guy" is an incredible self-own.

This is why the Gambinos are the better mafia for New York. They supported unions, beat up scabs, and gave Curtis Sliwa a fun story to tell.

Organize crime is basically capitalism outside of the law, it's all about profits. The Mafia, Yakuza, Triads have all been used to attack Communist movements. The triads were chased out of the Mainland after the CPC came to power. They fled to Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and South East Asian countries. After the Deng reforms, they re-established their presence in the Mainland. If the Gambinos beat up scabs, it was probably because the Unions paid them more than the bosses, not because they were for worker's rights.

  1. I assure you it was a joke

  2. Mafia were very connected to the american labor movement in the 20th century, often taking leadership positions in unions (look into Jimmy hoffa) this was not an altruistic or ideological position, it just allowed them to embezzle money out of union dues and pensions, and allowed them to threaten strikes on businesses that did not pay the mafia racketeer money.

After the Deng reforms, they re-established their presence in the Mainland.

Have they been able to purge society of these people again, or is it still a struggle because of the market reforms incentivizing crime?

Says a lot about the “tough on crime” fascists that actual gang members never despair like this when fascists win, but the left? They crash out and start making threats.

By the age of 35, in 1986, Fortune Magazine listed Franzese as number 18 on its list of the "Fifty Most Wealthy and Powerful Mafia Bosses".

Fortune was a lot more honest in the 80s huh?
