the full-on discursive assault against Mamdani on twitter has been astounding to watch the last few days. It's a barrage of histrionic fear-mongering, which blankets my feed even though I exclusively follow communists. It's a: Vile resurgence of Bush-era Islamophobia, fiery 9/11 imagery, Thomas Sowell quotations, "1 million residents pledge to flee New York," Michael Rappaport's annoying voice, AI-generated actresses in burqas, digs at his wife, Orientalist forensics on how he eats dinner, vulgar nativism, pro-Zionist talking points... the works! I hope someone data-mines all this mania and puts out an analysis one day.

I want the Mamdani that all these people think he is.

Imagine how much better NYC would be if everyone who pledged to leave because of Mamdani actually left

Reality: AOC 2 with Obamian Characteristics

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

I know he's an AOC socdem but seeing all this it's looking like it'll rule to watch the meltdown if he wins.

Then, you know, a subsequently disappointing reminder when he libs out. Maybe it'll radicalize some people IG who knows.

1 million residents pledge to flee New York

I mean that would decrease rent lmao

Welcome to the american version of the fever the media had over Corbyn. Mamdani isn't even half as good as Corbyn but they'll attack him just as viciously because they consider him the same.

Well us-foreign-policy

Always explains it

This is Barack in a cheap suit but it always annoys me how democrats can’t ever criticize one another for actual real reasons. Same dynamic with Biden and Trump, Biden tryhards can’t find a legitimate criticism of Trump and Trump tryhards can’t find a legitimate criticism of Biden

I think they are trying to provoke some would be school shooter into assassinating him.

How this is not extremely radicalizing to Mamdani himself as he abandons his principles to be more tolerable to these same people, I'll never understand.

Orientalist forensics on how he eats dinner

The looking down on eating food with your hands is so strange to me because it’s probably one of the most cross cultural aspects of eating. Do these people eat burgers with a knife and fork?

Michael Rapaport has never not been covered in cold sores every time I see a picture of him
