He started his arguments with defending Amerikkkan troops and ended with defending literal, actual SS concentration camp guards. He was (IIRC) revealed during/after the banning to have been a troop.

I'm not a power user so it was easier to fly under the radar, but I had a posting gap of like a month where I was exclusively on Bureaucrat right after creation.
To absolve you, I'll admit I was the one who pushed the self destruct button in the end. I kind of wish I had just changed the password and left it dorment. I figured the account would be banned anyway though.
There didn't seem to be any other course of action that would untaint the account after people started using it for personal grudges. Some people started DMing others with it too and having personal conversations, which felt weird.

That was me. I am prolific about actually chasing people off-site with some of the takes cooked up here. Nobody bothers doing it because most of you think it won't be seen or it won't get through or whatever but it does more often than you think and is worth doing it. Yesterday I also made Brianna Wu get Leslie Feinberg's book.
It takes 3 minutes of effort, if it's wasted no harm done but more of you should really try.

The daily megathreads on the old cth sub during the George Floyd protests were amazing. Like hundreds of comments every night, maybe even a couple thousand if my memory serves me correct. Not unlike the news mega when really big news happens.
I would encourage newer users to read through @JoeySteel@hexbear.net ’s comments and posts, some real bangers in there. Joey was eventually banned for sectarianism back when we used to have actual anarchists and other tendencies around here.
It’s hard to over-emphasize just how much getting this whole website off the ground was on the shoulders of one admin (Beatnik). I hope they are still around but they put in so much work. And while I definitely do not want to open any wounds over TC69, I think the reason so many of us were thrilled she was back was she so crucial in developing a truly trans-inclusive site (even if we still have problems to work on). This site was bleeding trans users who were making regular posts about how this site sucks for trans users. TC69 stepped in and bullied this site into being better.
Speaking of which, I think there’s a finer detail missed when we talk about the “pronoun struggle session”. There were two stages. The first stage was when the site first introduced pronoun tags. My recollection is that was broadly very popular and there weren’t any issues there (I am cis though, maybe I missed some arguing over it?). I think a few days after that, there was an announcement that pronoun tags were mandatory. THAT correct take caused a big struggle session over people who complained about “muh opsec” and felt pronouns shouldn’t be required. Those folks all left or got banned.
Remember that time a user would go out on runs and something dramatic would happen each time they did? Who was that? And were they on a run when Kirk was merked?

We had a user, BrookeBaybee, who made a daily "I love my trans comrades" post
One day about maybe 3 months in our highest profile trans mod, TC69, mass banned everyone that had been down voting those posts for transphobia. Shit was funny as fuck but people malded like crazy. It also really improved site culture I think and cemented this place as one of the most trans friendly spaces online
