what the heck are they even talking about? Which 8 wars? And isn't he trying to start a war with Venezuela? This is total BS, afaik.

[–] joekar1990@lemmy.world 168 points 2 weeks ago (10 children)

He's trying to take credit for:

  1. Israel and Iran
  2. Cambodia and Thailand
  3. India and Pakistan
  4. Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo
  5. Armenia and Azerbaijan
  6. Egypt and Ethiopia
  7. Serbia and Kosovo
  8. Israel and Hamas

While some did have diplomatic breakthroughs some of the fighting hasn’t stopped and some countries said he had nothing to do with it. Granted he will never say anything about the ones that are still fighting.

Israel and Hamas

Sweet Satan, I hate that framing. It's Israel and Palestine. They aren't at war with "Hamas", they're at war with the Palestinian people.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 56 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Would you say the Palestinian people are also at war with Israel? I wouldn't say so. They're sitting ducks. They are innocent bystanders being slaughtered. That's no war. The war is between Hamas and Israel, but Israel is punishing all of Palestine. That's my take at least. Maybe I'm misinformed.

What it is is a genocide.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah it's not a war, Israel is an occupying force

[–] Auth@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It can be both a genocide and a war. Hamas is the de facto government of that territory and represents the Palestinian people in Gaza. There was fighting between Organized and ranked Hamas Military forces and IDF right up until the last ceasefire.

The genocide was a result of the targeting civilians as part of the war, breaking rules of war.

While technically correct, I would still refrain from calling an attempted eradication a war.

Just going to once again plug that Hamas is the name of the publicly elected government of the territories of Palestine, elected in 2006 to help restore order after the third-to-last "war" with Israelis.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 weeks ago

It's Israel's framing because

A) They don't believe that Palestine exists

and

B) Nobody likes Hamas, so an Israel v. Hamas war sounds much more positive, even though the vast majority of people being killed have nothing to do with Hamas.

[–] anas@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

That, and the ~~war~~ genocide hasn’t actually ended.

This is a great chance to make MAGA feel dumb. Ask them what 8 wars. Make them do research. Doubt it was actually 8 wars and insist he only made 1 ceasefire that didn't last a week.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 2 weeks ago

Ask them what continent each one is on, and watch them get angry and beat up a minority about it.

[–] Gork@sopuli.xyz 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

There's also the ones that he ended that never started because he's addled:

Aberbaijan and Albania

Cambodia and Armenia

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago

Don't forget Venezuela vs Finland

Amazed he didn't work in "The War on Woke".

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

May he forever sleep

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I associate "the war on woke" moreso with DeSantis than Trump.

And most of those aren't ears, just conflicts which MIGHT become a war if nothing changes.

With that loose a definition I just fixed like a hundred wars in this year alone, I should be the Nobel peace prize

Having said that....

This is a corrupt psychopath asshole whose only reason for wanting this nobel prize is narcissism. He and his family havr stolen so much from all of his own charities that he isn't allowed to have charities anymore. All of his businesses have some scam or another attached to it, this is just your average asshole used car dealer with an extremely bad taste. Let's give HIM a Nobel prize?

I know that this Rep is only saying this to better her position, even though Luna is a Spanish last name, perra hipócrita, and I fully expect that once trump is gone, and he will be gone, that all these assholes will be jailed, this bitch included. You buttered up to trump for political favors? Jail. Throw away the key.

[–] AngularViscosity@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

he will never say anything about the ones that are still fighting

He will never say anything about being played for an absolute fool by Putin. Fucking dumbass orange man.

The war on not having a White House ballroom, so that's three wars right there.

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

He did stop 8 wars, all thanks to self-control.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 63 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I wonder how history will look back at this time. Or the people of Omicron Persei 8 when that content reaches them.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 8 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

I guess the way we look back at Nazi Germany.

Hitler had the almost exact same propaganda going, and he even got the Nobel Peace Prize...

[–] lapes@lemmy.zip 35 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Misinformation, Hitler didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize, he was nominated as a joke: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/hitler-nominated-nobel-peace-prize/

Hitler (...) even got the Nobel Peace Prize

No, he didn't. He was nominated ironically by one politician.

a nomination no one took under serious consideration. He was nominated in 1939 by a member of the Swedish parliament, E.G.C. Brandt.

Technically, the Nobel Committee cannot control the nominations that pour in. According to the Nobel Prize website, a nomination is valid if it is submitted by “members of national assemblies and national governments.” So Brandt was able to submit this nomination. However, Brandt's nomination of Hitler was not intended to be taken seriously, and he described it as ironical.

Read the article to understand the point he was trying to make.

[–] cAUzapNEAGLb@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Well today i learned, hitler was nominated for a nobel peace prize in 1939, but it was more a tongue in cheeck nomination

https://www.nobelpeacecenter.org/en/news/hitler-as-a-nobel-laureate

The nomination of Chamberlain provoked him to nominate Hitler as a provocation against Hitler and Nazism. The result of the Munich Agreement was that the western powers stabbed Czechoslovakia in the back by handing over Sudetenland to achieve peace

But the irony was lost on people, ans the nomination was withdrawn at the last moment, ans regardless no peace prize was ever awarded for 1939 due to ww2 breaking out

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

he even got the Nobel Peace Prize…

He did not get the peace prize. Literally anyone can be "nominated" for a prize, it's an open nomination process. But he did get Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 1938.

[–] Gork@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Kinda like how we're all Time's Person of the Year for 2006

my favourite thing about anna paulina luna is how she to claim being both latinx and jewish when, in reality, she was german and her grandfather fought for the nazis.

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Omg, she's a real person? I assumed from the post here this was just more foreign trolling stirring things up. No rational person could say and mean this, I assumed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Paulina_Luna

She authored the 2023 Christian children's book, The Legend of Naranja, which suggests that Biden stole the 2020 election

Hearts and minds, people. /smh

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

A children's book that throws in the stolen election bullshit? Lmao I'm fucking done. They always talk about the left indoctrinating children because that's what they do.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

Wait wait wait... The legend of orange?

Is she a real person or is this satire?

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What is she even talking about? Which eight wars were these?

The 8 that she pulled out of her lying arse

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Y’all still surprised that twitter is nothing but propaganda?

What 8 wars?

They're just laying low and waiting until Trump's bribe money runs out.

Never forget that Trump will throw down cash in order to make himself look good. What does anyone wanna bet that the money grifted from the cybercurrencies his organization is supporting isn't in this mix?

There's nothing real there.

[–] derry@midwest.social 9 points 2 weeks ago

Curious about the 8 wars and found this https://www.factcheck.org/2025/08/addressing-trumps-claims-about-ending-multiple-wars/

Narrator voice: in fact he did not end 8 wars. The listed conflicts were not even 8 wars nor did it end all of them.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm just glad we won the War On Christmas!

People say leftists don't like Christmas but I enjoy watching capitalism parade around the severed head of religion just as much as anyone else.
