The world we live in isn't just dystopic, it isn't just stupid, trying to describe all the ways it sucks just makes for a really boring story.

Students in the year 3025: "Why did they publish these horrible things as if they were accomplishments? Were people back then mentally ill?"

Teacher: "Yes, yes they were."

Archeologists in 3025: Actually these behaviors were ceremonial sacrifices to calm a wrathful god

Fertility rituals.

Sorry Gerald, that "Smooth sided fertility statue" isn't a ritual object, it's a dildo.

"We understand the workers of this age toiled endlessly to please a thankless god they called the Shareholder"

[–] Wild_Mastic@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Do this shareholder shoot deadly rays from the eyes and has a protective, anti magic barrier in front?

What optimistic thinking to think we've managed to escape out of this by then.

3025, is more likely just the sounds of rocks grinding and whips cracking.

If Grok is so great, why did all these people have to do so much work? 🤔

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I wonder how many of these people are just lonely, and this let's them be around people all the time. No 3rd spaces, no mental health services, your only interaction is with your coworkers or typing on a phone.

It's either that or a cult, cause these people are unhinged with this shit.

Uhhhhh…

Absolute authoritarianism without accountability
Zero tolerance for criticism or questions
Lack of meaningful financial disclosure regarding the budget
Unreasonable fears about the outside world that often involve evil conspiracies and persecutions
A belief that former followers are always wrong for leaving and there is never a legitimate reason for anyone else to leave
Abuse of members
Records, books, articles, or programs documenting the abuses of the leader or group
Followers feeling that they are never able to be “good enough”
A belief that the leader is right at all times
A belief that the leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or giving validation

At least with a cult you know it'll be over sooner rather than later.

Am I the only person who sees this and thinks everything about it screams AI generated? Even if it proves a point we agree with why is everyone so quick to assume this is real?

[–] lemmyman@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago

Right.

Where are the tent doors?

"That's not our office. We have way more tents,” wrote Yang, a Harvard-educated mathematician.

Think that was a joke but keep scrolling, the pictures are from June or July

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 months ago

It looks fake to me, too (although the low resolution makes it hard to tell), but it kind of doesn't matter in this case. They pretend that it's the case, because they think mistreating your workers is great.

Anti-transit fascists accidentally create a walkable community

This must be the dystopian hellscape Elmo complains about having to walk through every morning, just to get into work.

I see this and imagine the smell, yikes.

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

I would never imagine wanting you to stay in a tent at the work place would be a realistic red flag for a job but here we are. I hope they get shares in the company or sth then it makes more sense. But if this is just for a monthly salary, these people really need to wake-up.

Is this so ICE can’t get their almost exclusively immigrant staff?
