Amid backlash over partial demolition of East Wing, White House reportedly intends to send blueprints

The White House has not submitted plans for Donald Trump’s new ballroom to the federal agency that oversees construction of federal buildings, though demolition is already under way.

On Tuesday, the White House told Reuters it intended to send plans to the National Capital Planning Commission, an agency that typically approves and monitors construction on federal buildings. Demolition began earlier this week, with reporters taking video of a backhoe ripping out chunks of the White House’s exterior.

The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing a senior administration official, that the ballroom plans will mean the demolition of the entire East Wing.

I've got many problems with this asshole parasite refusing to use tax dollars as intended, instead using them as a slush fund for his fucking ego

[–] relativestranger@feddit.nl 6 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

demolishing the entire east wing was the plan all along.

East wing has the 1st ladies office and they both look like they've had enough of each other.

I just want to know how the hell it's supposed to cost $250 million. I searched for $250 million buildings and found a 25 storey tower, a SpaceX launch facility and the hangar that holds the entire fleet of Air Force One jets. A stupid ballroom should cost a few million tops.

They're adding something special for all the working parents: The Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Daycare.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 17 points 10 hours ago

Its supposed to cost $250 million because of corruption and fraud. Its just another grift.

[–] b161@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 10 hours ago

They need to build pedo tunnels and an underground facility for transporting and raping children.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 hours ago

Have you seen the price of gold lately?

[–] londos@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago

Can't have the secret rooms and wiretap infrastructure documented.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 10 points 10 hours ago

Putin..."I suggested it to him but I never thought he'd fuckin' do it!"

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

This is the most egregious neighborhood building code violation ever.

Busybody neighbors see obvious construction: "DO YOU HAVE A PERMIT FOR THAT??"

Trump: Mind yer own business.

Busybody neighbors: report it to municipal building code authorities

Trump: I suddenly need the govt to pay me $230 million settlement for the litigious mud they've dragged me through over the years, and that $230 million will come from taxpayers.

Methinks he owes the white house demolition crew $230 million, and you know how wealthy people refuse to ever pay for anything out of their own pocket.

At my house, I got very little ball room. But I just scratch them if I'm not comfortable.

Anyway, I just sanded my whole car down with 80 grit sand paper. The house also looked like it needed it, so I sanded the garage. I'm going to go ask the dog what the plan is. My wife said the car could use a wash.

Nah, just starting my presidential mental exercises.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I got a good chuckle from it

[–] mech@feddit.org 7 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

He's going to submit the plans in 2 weeks.

[–] Denalduh@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

He's going to submit a concept of a plan in 2 weeks.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I heard they are going to submit the plans for the white house and healthcare at the same time. Lol

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Trump also promises to release the Epstein files in 2 weeks.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 9 points 12 hours ago

Sounds a lot like Trump's presidency.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

I guess there was no other place in DC to build a ball room. Maybe even a dedicated one.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 29 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh! I get it. He's destroying the white house as a symbolic metaphor for him destroying America.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

No. He's building himself a better bunker.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 14 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Rape now, apologise never.

Except this time it's a building he's raping instead of children and women.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

He never apologizes though. He just demands you accept he has a right to do whether the hell he wants.

[–] CPMSP@midwest.social 1 points 10 hours ago

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll see it in two weeks.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 16 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

FSB, MSS, Mossad and other foreign spy agencies must love this.

I wonder how good the security is.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

FSB and Mossad have to sign off on the plans before he can submit them

[–] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I can guarantee that at least one bug gets planted in a wall, floor, or ceiling somewhere important. Hell, with Trump acting like a Russian agent, that may actually have been coordinated right from the start.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 6 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

He isn't acting anything. He is a Russian asset.

Ultimately, it’s irrelevant whether he is or isn’t. All that matters is that he’s doing everything a Russian asset would do.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

He is a Russian asset, but OP said he was acting like a Russian agent

Filing plans would signal that the administration was somehow beholden to something or someone.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

FSB and Mossad haven't signed off on the plans yet.

Sure seems like a distraction from the Epstein files.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 day ago (7 children)

This is actually surprising that this government building is just being torn down without any public information filings saying how much is being torn down...

Is this just shoddy incompetent engineering that is standard fare for anyone working for this administration, or is there something being hidden from us?
