Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I’m glad ppl made it out. And showed their stance. But the worst part is that this will have 10 second less than 25 word coverage on major news outlets

I was on vacation and ended up joining the one that was legit outside my hotel. I will have to join the next one in my hometown. My biggest thought was it needs to happen every single week.

Glad you were safe on X all you see is videos of people from the protest getting attacked by thugs

[–] loldog191@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

at first read this as "Glad you were safe on ecstasy" and not "Glad you were safe, on Xitter..."

[–] zululove@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 hours ago

Oh shit 🤣

So he's better at one thing than Obama, unifying hate.

Protests don't work against a fascist regime without the threat of violence.

They need to fear for their lives.

Aren't you too busy 'fucking all those conservative wives' who 'need a real man'? From the unintelligent way you advocate for violence, to the incel way you talk about women, I'd almost think you were MAGA posting here in an attempt to make progressives look bad.

No, here in the US, our fascists are wimps. We just need to make them fear for their wallets.

I was at this protest:

Had to make sure I wasn't in any of the photos after this, because they are very serious about the area being extremely pro Trump. I know of at least 5 permanent Trump signs in the area.

Always makes me sad to see these stroadside protests that don't have enough people to shut down the road. You guys deserve better

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

They closed the four roads around the capital of WI.

Hope you stay safe. This was the photo where i thought the people had the most guts to be there. If its really that supportive of your fuckhead in chief, i can't imagine many friendly onlookers.

Although, i suppose with the smallest voting bloc being republican, and largest being non-voter, maybe you'd get more disinterested people than outright aggression.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

The reality is that this is an extremely busy intersection. There were more than one diesel truck that attempted (and had some success) to cover people in smoke. I believe the only reason that there wasn't any real aggression was there being hired security there.

[–] Gorgritch_umie_killa@aussie.zone 14 points 20 hours ago

Ffs hired security.... glad you all went prepared, but thats such a ridiculous need to have to think about for a protest.

There was one minutes away from my home in suburban Aurora, CO. For being such an off-central location, turnout was excellent and there was so much support from those driving by! I realized how great those protests outside of downtown are; super convenient (easy to attend and get others to join) and seeing things like that happen in unexpected places, especially the more residential areas, has a little more meaning when you drive by.

My mom lives in a a gated "active adult" community. A small group got out in front of the neighborhood early in the morning, protested for about an hour, then went to Denny's.

The last No Kings protest had a bit of a controversy. Everyone in the neighborhood tools around in golf carts, and a MAGA resident rode hers down to the protest, and ended up deliberately hitting another old lady with her cart, and taking off.

Nobody knew who she was, and by the time they found her, she had moved away.
