users vow to boycott Spotify after the tenth time it was revealed that it made deals with nasty organizations. users will boycott it when it happens again

hard to not be cynic about this but i have heard of very similar news over and over again and "users will boycot it" everytime. not that i expect for most spotify users to care about this but news always report this as a big thing

Spotify has done a wide variety of horrible stuff for a very long time. I think Spotify could live stream executions of innocent babies and they would be still making money

Tidal and Deezer are similar (and better) products and I believe there's an integration with the latter to import all your Spotify data.

Self-hosting Navidrome, Jellyfin, or Plex is a really easy project comparatively for anyone already running a home server.

There are better options out there and it's been time to abandon Spotify.

Lately I just throw stuff on my Peertube instance and listen via Pipepipe, which lets you make playlists that incorporate Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Youtube, NicoNico, and BilliBilli. That way I can mix streaming my own files with those of major companies

I copy and paste mp3s like it’s 2005

Do any of them recommend songs like Spotify? That's the main reason I use it now. It's algorithm just seems to be better than other services, especially it's weekly or daily discovery Playlists.

But deep in your heart you know the guilt would drive you mad, and the shame would leave a permanent scar.

Cause you start out stealing songs, and then you're robbing liquor stores, and selling crack and running over school kids with your car
