I got into the big gay for the long term retirement planning options.

The true Gay Agenda: Being able to afford retirement.

Yup, it's a no-brainer. I'm heading in to sign the paperwork on Monday.

Hey, could you do me a solid and drop off my sick leave note at the Antifa HQ? It's just next door to Big Gay HQ.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 2 points 4 days ago

You got it, I need to pick up my new membership card from George Soros while I'm down their anyway.

I also imagine that you’re less likely to have kids, or if you do, you get smaller family sizes on average. If that’s true, then that could easily contribute to better financial outcomes.

So many advantages.

Lgbtq individuals also have 10% higher income on average than heterosexual individuals The reason is not really known iirc.

My guess is that LGBTQ people who are out of the closet are more likely to be bold and assertive.

Or financially secure individuals are less insecure, which isn't quite the same thing.

No wonder gay men are so happy

No wonder gay men are so gay.

My guess would be that gay men are less likely to have children, both because of fewer accidental pregnancies and an adverse system of adoption. This makes them less likely to take less demanding careers or part time jobs to have time to spend on child-rearing, which is a popular explanation for why the average woman earns less.

It would be interesting to see if the wage gap shrinks when comparing the income of childless couples of different orientations.

I would like to point out that this phenomena exists for both gay men and women, its just that a lesbian couple produces less income than a heterosexual couple due to the gender wage gap; however a lesbian individual still produces more income on average than a heterosexual woman.

But with regards to your hypothesis, this seems very likely to me! I've never considered that homosexual couples are vastly less likely to have children. I find it interesting to note that even if the demands of the career choice are the same, a childless individual would likely still be able to produce more income at the same employer with the same hourly rate, as they likely have more time on their hands, and can therefore work more overtime. Moreover, being able to dedicate more time to work would likely result in faster promotions.

Oh good. As a lesbian it's nice to see we're number 1 at last! Number 1 at making the least... Hmmm

Briefly sold cars back in '91. Salesmen told me to lock onto the gay guys as they always had money and rock-and-roll credit. And they did.

[–] GreenMartian@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All my gay friends are broke and drive practical hatches.

But that's probably cause me and my whole circle are broke-arse millennials that may never retire...

[–] Alaknar@sopuli.xyz 9 points 4 days ago

Don't worry about it, buddy! The societal collapse caused by the climate change-induced waves of mass migration and disruption of the means of production AND transportation will make things like "retirement" long irrelevant before you get to that age! FUN!

“ increase pension size” … that’s not what I read the first time

Holy shit, it took until reading your comment for me to realize I misread the title.

Okay brain, it might be time to sleep.
