that Brian Quimby pod, Street Fight Radio did a live show in the small city where i was living at the time. small venue, maybe a few dozen people packed into a bar.

anyway, they had this segment called "Name and Shame" where people who came in filled out preprinted forms where they described some specific bullshit their boss had subjected them to.

during the show, our hosts read them aloud. hilariously, Brian chuckled part way through because unlike most places they toured, my small place gave full names of businesses and bosses, so brian said, "Damn, you people aren't fucking around!"

anyway, they read a dozen stories of typical american asshole boss bullshit, benefit screwing, wage theft, extortion. with each story, people were hissing and booing and shouting threats.

ive been in a lot of crowds with some emotional charge, but ive never felt anything like that crowd before or since. it was electric. and it didn't require any music, imagery, or prepared speech with fancy oratory. just a handful of stories from perfect strangers about the typical type of evil shit bosses pull on us when we're cornered, vulnerable, and alone.

I'd like to thank all my former employers for making me the vicious asshole I have rightfully become after being shit on left and right because my self motivation and sense of responsibility were ripe for abuse during my formative working years.

"I think you're well compensated" motherfucker my predecessor was making $17/hr in 2023, that'd be $18.08 with a conservative estimate of inflation so she was effectively paid more than me despite me doing more work because I do shit she explicitly told me she'd refuse to do because she wasn't being paid for it

Hear hear. Fuck my boss too. My workplace is nutty. Currently the general big boss of the region is on a tirade firing everyone who questions any decisions upper management makes and then hiring on-call workers to replace them. At this point almost half of the workers are completely untrained and we all have to train them without extra pay, or make up for their mistakes otherwise we can get targetted for audits. Office work is abusive as fuck.

i'm like in my kitchen cutting tomatoes for a sauce thinking "huh I wonder if i could use those green tomatoes that are going bad to make a green tomato pasta sauce, maybe mix it with a pesto, do something interesting with that" I'M FUCKING WORKING FOR FREE FOR THIS PLACE IN MY FREE TIME AND I CAN'T STOP MYSELF BUT YEAH I'M SO WELL COMPENSATED

My hatred for boss is now pure. I have achieved enlightenment.
