Such a Bull Shit boss not a single hard counter and they have the rewrite patent ability so even when you win you lose.

If you always wondered or wanted to play a more brutal game of American football and had fantasy elements, I've heard good things about Blood Bowl 2. It's Warhammer smashed into American football.

In the retro space, the Genesis/Mega Drive had "Mutant League Football" which involved various teams of monsters (Skeletons, Orc-like "Mutants," etc.) playing on a field strewn with land mines and bottomless pits, and as the coach you had options like "Bribe ref" which would need to be immediately countered with "kill ref."

How interesting. I had never heard of that game before, and never thought that there was an earlier game like Blood Bowl, but from... checks notes 1993. (!?!)

Played that with my neighbor all the time, awesome game. There was also a cartoon show that came on super early in the morning.

Yikes that game has been on my wishlist for 10 years now!

Just sort of related aside - I was listening to my favorite online radio station and the DJ was introducing a song - he realized he was about to say it was a relatively new release and then chuckled a bit as it dawned on him that it was almost 25 years old.

It's the best way to save money as a gamer IMO.

I love playing dwarfs in Blood Bowl! Fun times.

[–] austinfloyd@ttrpg.network 3 points 2 months ago

It is a ton of fun! A word of warning though: there are funky game mechanics stemming from its origin as a board game from the 80s.

THIS is the kind of fantasy football I could get into!

[–] dukeofdummies@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

You can't! You'll infringe on Nintendo's patent!

Cricket. There's a bowler about to get a hat-trick wicket? Summon Odin from FF7 and strike them down with a giant lance from the heavens.

This meme is now property of Nintendo
