Well obviously. We live in a fascist country. We've lived in a fascist country all our lives. Its just now we've got a president who isn't concerned with maintaining the facade anymore.

Buy a gun. Learn to use it. No, you won't be dictating the terms of its use. Violence will come to you. You can be an active participant in that outcome or you can be a statistic.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

You have Innernette in your bunker?

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

If I won the lottery I'd buy a bunker. One of the old cold war era ones.

I cannot conceive of anything worse than a late night host losing his job.

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 197 points 1 day ago (16 children)

Consider this ... next elections the opposition of Trump wants to put out commercials and videos of how trump's policies hurt America...

But the FCC has them all pulled in name of Trump because they "mislead the American public" ... so only pro trump commercials everywhere...

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 95 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Underrated comment. Postal service is likely next. Can’t have vote by mail if they won’t deliver.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 41 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And Louis DeJoy remained postmaster general until March of ‘25. Biden let him continue dismantling the postal service throughout his entire term.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What Biden allowed post Trump is inconceivable to me. It either shows the fallacies of an old man or how powerful the machine has become.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He could've shown up at the Supreme Court holding a shotgun with "OFFICIAL ACTS" engraved down the barrel, but noooo

[–] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

I mean, what you said is funny, but more so because it does actually proved an excellent analogy for what Biden could have done to actually stop Trump.

Becaue Trump literally showed up to Congress with a double barreled shotgun engraved with "executive order," and "legal immunity" on each barrel. Then used it to bypass Congress entirely when it came to canceling appropriated funds, passing blanket Tariffs, and expanding the executive branch to include independant agencies like the FTC and SEC.

So Biden unquestionably could have done the same to the Judiciary branch, and forced an expansion of the Supreme Court without congressional approval to avoid the absolute disaster we've been experiencing from our highest Court since the Roe V Wade decision.

He very much could have showed up at the Supreme Court with the exact shotgun Trump is now using to rule by force. Instead he chose to follow norms, as every Democrat has before him. So now Trump chose the gun to destroy those norms, as he likewise always has before. Just now with the full support of the Supreme Court, and complete legal immunity behind him.

And no surprise, he's done quite a lot of damage with all that legal immunity Biden left unused.

Seriously, this analogy is an excellent one for all the reasons you likely didn't intend. (Sorry about that). However, imo, it does make your comment funnier on another level to be honest.

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

What pisses me off even more than Biden's failure is all of the voters that pretend like Biden didn't fail. I already knew Biden was going to fail before he got nominated. Here we are about to repeat the whole Saga again with unwinnable and worthless candidates led by Aristocrats in League with the Enemy. Will not even stand up and fight for the post office which has 80 some percent approval. But I am the asshole. It is my fault he lost, I did not believe hard enough!

The post is now on a 7-Day Target for delivery. My entire life 2 to 3 days, including the day you put it in the mail, within 2 to 3 days anywhere in the country it would be delivered. By 2020 it had went down to 3 to 5 days, and now it's just went up to a full seven days. I have to wait 7 days for a piece of mail now. How people are not more upset about this I do not know I am fucking livid with rage.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Maybe because no one under 50 mails anything any more?

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

There's a lot of Commerce done over the US mail. Most of which is done by people under 50 years old even if you are not one of them. Is the lifeline of millions of small businesses in fact, the veins and arteries of small business throughout the country.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 1 points 17 hours ago

Some of us are trying to direct order things instead of using Amazon. Granted, that’s 2/3 UPS

"next elections".

Hah!

Good one.

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

Russia, Iran, and North Korea still have elections.

They will be held. They might not matter, but voting booths will open.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 5 points 1 day ago

Oh all his people he loves keeps having elections. They just run unopposed, and win no matter what.

He WANTS the elections... it's a popularity contest, you think Trump would get rid of that?

Actual fair elections on the other hand...

Why they using that smug fucking thumbnail. It pisses me off. Want to punch him in his smug face.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

I love this thumbnail because of South park. All I can think of now is his small penis and trying to sleep with Satan.

[–] PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That's the point exactly.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 74 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Most of the articles say it was because of the kirk comments, when in reality it was because of the trump comments. They fired Kimmel for showing that trump didn't care about kirk dying.

Starts at about 2 minutes.

And here is a video of my favorite LBC commentator James O'Brien discussing it: https://youtu.be/RV_S-oDqp_c

He also plays the relevant part of the monologue twice.

TRIGGER WARNING!!!

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

That's pretty mild... We know be rapes children.

And the correct response is to lynch the fucker, not to all him politely to release the evidence in himself and cheerlead for Newsom selling MAGA inspired junk.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (6 children)

As a Canadian I don’t get the whole gun thing and I’ve tried arguing it even with people on the left who love guns. The reasoning is that you want guns to stand up to tyrants. Well? What the fuck are you guys waiting for??

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 0 points 14 hours ago

It was always a lie to sell more guns propped up by a bunch of dumbasses that don't realize it.

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I think people are waiting for a chance to make an actual difference in acting. They're waiting for leaders to come along, so throwing your life away is not the only option to do something, where you could be a part of something that is working towards a greater goal, all legally should go without saying we have a right to defend ourselves from unlawful attacks.

I’ve heard rumors that there are a bunch of new Reddit accounts randomly asking people about their opinion on the Jimmy Kimmel and Charlie Kirk.

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (4 children)

That is interesting, what are your opinions on Jimmy Kimmel and Charlie kirk?

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not American so I've not heard about one of them, but I heard the other one is a pain in the neck...

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I take offense good sir, I must give a full throated denunciation of this kirk denialism. Just because he was a trecherous piece of shit conspiring against democracy, such as remains of it, to install the worst people as dictator, does not mean you can not pretend to care very deeply about a nazi influencer getting nazied.

You are like neck and neck with kimmil here in offending our poor put upon nazi lradership here.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Won't you think of our poor disenfranchised Nazi leadership?

That is why we here at People for Ethical Nazism In Society (PENIS) encourage people to adopt a Nazi.

The amount of Nazis without a good home is staggering. It is reported that most Nazis burn down their home and kill their family at a young age leaving them without a safe place.

For just a few dollars a day you can help give Nazi a safe place to conspire to overthrow society and create an ethnostate. Think about it. That is less than a cup of coffee a day to overthrow your government and start a genocide!

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I heard about your organizations! You only give a few percent of the donations to help actual nazis, and pocket the rest!

That is funny though, I think you really have something there.

The empire has won, Voldemort has taken over the ministry, Gilead has arrived

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 43 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (5 children)

It's not over by a long shot. If it was, they wouldn't give a shit what some late night hosts say. The whole reason they're so sensitive about criticisms of Charlie Kirk is because even after becoming a martyr, people still find him, and them, repulsive. That scares them.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 18 points 1 day ago

unfortunately I don't think so...

I don't think they actually care about Charlie Kirk at all... half of maga hated kirk. Laura Loomer was bashing kirk while he was alive (obviously for very different reasons than us).

His value to maga just went up massively BECAUSE HE'S DEAD. They've wanted to crack down on free speach in the left for ages, but they've lacked the right hook. They wanted to do it with Luigi and Brian Thompson... but sadly they realized that average american's were very familiar with the predatory nature of the health insurance industry, and even brainwashed right wing maniacs have horror stories involving health insurance.

Kirk is a pawn, they aren't trading their values of free speech to protect Kirk. Removing free speech was their values, and Kirks assassination is an excuse to make it happen. If we gave trump a time machine to go back and save Kirk, he'd absolutely turn down the opportunity.
