Because if it weren't for double standards, Republicans would have no standards at all.

That is so confusing when you think about it... how can you go from 0 to 2 without going through 1? There must be some mirroring going on, or maybe projecting.

This is getting dialectical fast

[–] logi@piefed.world 14 points 1 week ago

Republicans are the good guys here. They've got twice as many standards as anyone else.

I would prefer them having none at all and just shut up about people celebrating the death of a fascist.

Christianity has helped train them in hypocrisy since birth.

Woe, despair, and agony on me.

Why is the left in US still at "look! they are breaking the rules!" stage when the right is so clearly at "fuck your rules" stage?

A lot of people don’t want to stoop to their level. They just don’t realize that the other side is t stooping, but rather has a large backhoe and is digging fast.

Billionaire media trained that thought terminator into them real good.

It wasn't hate speech when CK said what he said because he was white when he said it? Is that what you're implying with your one word comment.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 week ago

Yes, that exactly what they are saying republicans would say. The implication si republicans are racists. I hope this doesn't surprise you.

I think I missed something here. What did Charlie Kirk say about white people that could be considered hate speech?

[–] Cenotaph@mander.xyz 20 points 1 week ago

Nothing. They're saying it was okay for him to say those things that for others would be considered hate speech because he was white.

Wonder if its the same logic as "i can't be racist, one of my friends is black!"

"It can't be hate speech, im friends with donald trump!"

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago

I think they main reason was...CK propped up his religion and how much he loved Jesus/Christianity.

Christianity will defend it's own, even when that person is a huge piece of shit. Look at all the pedophiles in the church. Have you ever seen a church kick out someone like this? I havent.

This boils down to "if you say anything bad about CK, you're saying bad things about my faith and religion".

Racism/white nationalism is out on full display in the world. While there are plenty of hateful sacks of shit so stupid that they see people with different skin color and assume they're bad and dangerous, there are also far, far more who are just going along with the flow and trends and don't want to be punished by the system, by daddy turnip, by his administration, or by the other people who are also going along with it and jumping onto the bandwagon out of laziness and apathy.

This is how social attitudes are changed rapidly, it's happened over and over in history. It just takes a handful of people normalizing something that most people would reject for entire empires to be toppled and for stable systems to be torn down.

If we were all broadly more aware of how fragile everything is and how much power we really have as groups, I like to think we would have a different world. I doubt we'll see it though.

[–] Suavevillain@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Racist people are wild. They will wake up and tell you an open white nationalist and Nazi isn't racist and all of his own quotes are taken out of context, and pretend to be serious people.

Then dox people for not showing empathy to a man who hated empathy. The most delusional collective of ppl.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

If you'll notice, most of those decrying these statements are also preachers and believers of his doctrine. Those that don't believe are mostly silent or minimally vocal to avoid being targeted by his disciples

Stupidity is a choice, not a diagnosis.
