As an Italian I feel the need to apologize to the Ethiopian people for the violence they had to suffer during the course of that infamous war.

By recognizing the sins of the past, we recognize the depths of depravity we as human beings are capable of, and recognize the damage inflicted on others that we have been spared.

The sins of the past are not our sins - but it behooves us to regret them all the same.

Looks like a depiction of the M1870 or M1870/87 Vetterli bolt action.

Crazy-impressive that you can narrow it down from a partially-obscured view like that!

Search logic starts with reasonable assumptions. Ethiopia means the most likely rifle is Italian based in history. It's not a Carcano based on the barrel bands, so look one generation of rifles back at the Vetterli. Compare barrel bands and overall profile to confirm the match. It being obscured is why it can't tell if it's an M1870 or the updated M1870/87
