Crazy-impressive that you can narrow it down from a partially-obscured view like that!

Search logic starts with reasonable assumptions. Ethiopia means the most likely rifle is Italian based in history. It's not a Carcano based on the barrel bands, so look one generation of rifles back at the Vetterli. Compare barrel bands and overall profile to confirm the match. It being obscured is why it can't tell if it's an M1870 or the updated M1870/87
