They have at least brough back a bunch of real buttons. Removing them was the real crime imo

It should be illegal. See Tesla frontal crashes.

It is, eu mandates to make basic controls buttons again (volume, air condition..)

I hate it. Laziness of designers. Check out how nicely integrated screens are in Kia Sportage for an example vs this hot-glued tablets in competitorsโ€ฆ

Try replacing a nicely integrated screen 5 years from now.

Gen zennials need a screen at all times or they will get depressed.

Iโ€™m 30 and it feels boomerish to say but I love my first gen BRZ for having not only red seven-segment displays for everything but also a large range of dimming.

And with a ball coupling, the ID. Cross can haul up to 75 kg (165 lbs), which VW says is enough to transport two e-bikes.

Wait what? It hought they forgot a zero at first

Omg it looks like the steering wheel has buttons ๐ŸŽ‰

can haul up to 75 kg

Thats probably the drawbar load (Stรผtzlast), not the maximum weight of the trailer. Otherwise, I agree, this would be ridiculous.

[โ€“] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not sure .. but still it's very very little. Not even the weight of a person!

But with 208 horsepower, I guess the car itself must be very heavy!

The conceptโ€™s front-wheel drive motor spits out 155kW of power, which is the equivalent of around 208 horsepower. It has a range of 420km (260 miles) based on the more generous WLTP cycle. And it can hit a top speed of 175 km/h (108 mph). And with a ball coupling, the ID. Cross can haul up to 75 kg (165 lbs), which VW says is enough to transport two e-bikes.

Not sure .. but still it's very very little. Not even the weight of a person!

The drawbar load is commonly in that range. It needs to assured that there is still enough load on the front wheels for traction and steering under all circumstances. Even a 2.5 ton trailer can have a drawbar load of only 75 kg.

The ID. Cross should be able to haul a 1,2 ton trailer.

Volkswagen Press Release

[โ€“] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ok great Thanks!

Funny that they don't mention that at all in the article!

[โ€“] Successful_Try543@feddit.org 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

It seems like the author was confused, as the drawbar load and the weight of the trailer the car can haul are two separate things. It is correctly stated in the official press release of VW, which is probably their source. (see updated link in my above comment)
