Eleven is grown up with a kid and the show hasn’t gotten to season five yet.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago

I thought this was a joke, holy shit

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That poor girl was in a rush to grow up, makes me wonder about her home situation that she wanted out. She was looking 40 as soon as she hit 18 and I believe had a guy lined up already

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They adopted a baby, so she also kind of pulled a pregnancy speed run. Maybe if you were a child star, you'd want to make yourself an "adult" as soon as possible?

[–] Patches@ttrpg.network 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

As to why adoption?

if you made money based upon your body, and how it looks (Nothing sexual). The last thing ( I think) you would want to do - is jeopardize that by becoming pregnant.

It permanently alters your body for better, or worse

Drake had her "lined" up at 12....

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm wondering if they're going to bust out some CGI to de-age the actors, or if they're going to just roll with it

[–] Patches@ttrpg.network 4 points 2 weeks ago

Did you see them last season?

They were just rolling with it.

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 50 points 2 weeks ago

I've heard in the latest season the kids finally qualify for social security but now they're being hunted down by rogue agents at the AARP who are jeopardizing their ability to live on a fixed income.

Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.

[–] MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago

It's not a motorcycle baby, it's a chopper.

[–] lemon@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 weeks ago

It completely baffles me they didn’t just skip ahead a few years last season. The noticeable difference between the ages of the actors and the ages of their characters made it hard to take it seriously

My favorite part of Stranger Things was when Matthew Modine had to sit down with Eleven and explain to her why he'd be carrying a watch up his ass for 7 years.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 weeks ago

ok, it is SHOCKING how much Maria de Medeiros looks like Mike Wheeler in those frames. I had to just go and double check that was an unaltered frame, it was from around 1:51:25 in my copy of pulp fiction.

I find it funny that the kid that got super big, Finn whatever, i think he’s the one with the most wooden look and worst acting than any of the other kids. From the first season i thought he was awful but I guess that’s subjective. But there’s no way he or any of the other kids are normal anymore, they’ve been consumed by Hollywood now. The girl who plays Eleven looks like she’s 50 now

That's what being Drake's friend at the age of 14 (when he was 33) will do to you.

“You know we text – we just texted each other the other day and he was like “I miss you so much” and I was like “I miss you more”. He’s coming to Atlanta, so I’m definitely gonna go and see him and I’m so excited.”

Seven years later, and it's still disgustæng.

I’ve only seen season 1. This thread is making me think I should abandon it now. But maybe I should continue for the unintentional comedy.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The later seasons weren't bad necessarily, but you could honestly stop after season 1 and rest confident that you didn't miss out on anything important to the cultural zeitgeist.

I remember season 1. I don't remember the other seasons.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

True. I enjoyed season 1. Quit the show after season 2 because I found it so awful and lame. I can only imagine what the later seasons were like, lol.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It was a one-trick pony.

"Get it? It's 80's!" can only last about one season before you start to get tired of the decade.

I did like some moments in the later seasons, I wouldn't say they're awful but completely forgettable. They just kept trying to tell the same story over and over.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 1 points 1 week ago

Sounds like I didn't miss out.

They should have done the Mike Flanagan thing and have a new story, new characters, new scenario that relates to the 80s nostalgia theme and built on that. They could have done something really awesome with old 80s nostalgia and bended the genre like Flanagan did with old horror classics.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Season 2 is kind of season 1 again, it's pretty decent. I personally liked season 3 the best.

4 was OK but I don't recall enjoying it that much, felt a little shark jumpy at parts

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Thanks. Maybe I will try to continue watching. How do you mean sharing jumpy?

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry, that was a typo, "shark jumpy". It jumps the shark quite a bit.

I wouldn't personally say the show is must watch. But it is pretty decent soft horror, retro, sci-fi, mystery, adventure entertainment.

I guess my time is a lot more constrained these days and my list of shows to watch, movies to see, and games up play grows faster than it's consumed. So I really have to prioritise

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Was that the one with Samwise the Gray?

[–] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Let me put it like this, I know I've seen more than one season, but how many and I don't plan on watching anymore

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Max 3. Tap out.

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't forget my father's watch

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I specifically reminded her - bedside table! On the Kangaroo! I said the words, "Don't forget my father's watch!"

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Eleven's transition was beautiful and more shows should explore how friend groups can support trans comrades
