The guy that Filter song was about (Budd Dwyer) was found innocent in the end, 6 years after he was due to be sentenced, which was to be the day after he shot himself in front of a live press event.
It's really a tragedy on several levels, and the people who did the crimes didn't get punished. Only Budd punished himself, and he turned out to be innocent, despite being set up to be the "fall guy" for the people who actually did the crimes against the state.
For those uninformed like me who also want this history.
