If he’s not blowing up oil pipelines I don’t want it

How do you make a series about super hero eco vigilantes without making it woke?

[–] Lurker123@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah it’s wild. It seems to me that the window dressing a “x, y, z reboot sucks because it is woke” proponent falls back to is that making it woke harms the source material in some way.

But here, as you point out, the source material is vigilante eco terrorists.

Worse yet - the planeteers are diverse, both ethnically/nationality and some of them are the political gender (w*men).

So any argument that making it woke is harming the source material is immediately short circuited

Can't wait until he storms an exxon executive meeting and convinces them all to use paper straws and put 1% of their profits into carbon credits

I’m more of a fan of the Dogma approach

[–] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Not only will this be woke (according to idiots), it will also be the most toothless garbage ever.

Captain planet; he's a hero; gonna take pollution down to a somewhat reasonable level without threatening the survival of the energy sector.

I’m dead serious, if Captain Planet is still fun and campy in this day and age I’m going to consider the reboot climate change denial propaganda.

At the bare minimum, make it They Live with the eco-villains all being rich, alien parasites like the movie, but make them disgusting pig creatures with hoggish being among this species, and just have Captain Planet be absolutely cruel with his ways of dealing with said alien parasites. I want him to be if Homelander was a tankie.

Cowards won't do the arc where the captain slips into alcoholism because all his efforts where in vain to prevent climate change.

Captain Call Your Local Representative

This reboot better be the darkest, edgiest, wokest series on Netflix.

If Captain Planet isn’t a brooding psychopathic anti-hero I’m not watching.

I can't believe how quickly the lathe works. Now I just need to focus all my energy on the name Hogg Crankley until it is released

There's only one solution to earth's pollution: intifada, revolution!

I'm looking forward to the episode where he plants a nuclear bomb in the white house while saying "I regret nothing".

  1. Stop doing Reboots
  2. Captain planet was always woke
  3. If they're going to be honest, it will require the murder of Exxon Mobile CEO or suicidal depression.
  4. Netflix doesn't have the balls.
