Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Oooh, I'm one of those! Gaming on foodstamps and social health in a US state, AMA.

Just in case you forgot, getting rid of video games is part of Project 2025. Republicans have had a vendetta against them since Mortal Kombat came out in the arcades back in the 90s. And in some ways they have been against them since their very inception with Pong and Tetris.

Because they encourage creativity and independent thought.

I'll note that they loved the propaganda and mental training that America's Army provided.

Someone so disconnected with reality should not represent anyone.

So basically, they are mooching off of free healthcare - by performing by one of the most risk free activities that is almost going to guarantee they won't need healthcare in the first place?

MAGA tactic:

Take negative stereotype, say it is preventing a desirable goal from being reached, then say it is because of what you are actually trying to cut. Doesn't matter if they barely have any real relation to each other.

LOL, Says the guy mooching off all of us for free healthcare and a paycheck.

the population of young men who do nothing all day, have no interest in employment, but are also extremely motivated to apply for and maintain their access to healthcare and make regular doctor appointments

They'll just keep turning the screws tighter if you let them.

Don't listen to their lies.

Magats shit on women... Still get women votes... Shit in soliders still get soldiers votes... Shit on Mexicans.... Still get Mexican votes... Shit on men...still get men votes...

I don't know who this says more about... The voting group or Democrats that can't win despite this shit.

Mooch on guys!

Does he realize these unemployed, dirty gamers who complain but don’t do anything productive tend to lean conservative?

Its a lot more rewarding than choking on a small carrot.

Young men have no idea what health care is, nor do they care.

They are healthy and heal fast.

They are the ones who traditionally pay in and dont take out.

I pay $60 (or whatever), pay for my data connection, and get to play my game literally for years. It’s one of the cheapest forms of entertainment around. I get tons of value out of my purchase, it reduces stress, I get a sense of challenge out of it, and for the amount I spent I get a lot pf return.

Now if only health care were free. That’s just a bullshit statement and not even worth responding to. That said, In its current state it’s the opposite of video games. It’s expensive. The amount you put in is often not what you get out. It’s stressful.

Maybe the only way it’s like games is that someone can pull the plug on you when it’s not profitable anymore.

The problem is not this bloke. The problem is the people that voted for him.

Maybe. But in many areas, only one party realistically has a shot, so reps basically get elected in their primary process. So instead of needing a majority of the total population to win, you just need a plurality of the few who get involved in the primary process.

Blame the people involved in the primary process, not the people who only vote in the general election.

There was a billionaire, CEO to multiple companies, arguing that he’s one of the best in one of the most grindiest games…

Congress need to fix big and large companies from firing people in masses every quarter and not hire people.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

You know what, he's right. I'll go get off my ass to spend the evening running my 2 million dollar quarts mine and then swing by my 875k dollar quarts furnaces, weight seperation, flotation cells, and crystalization facility to create a bunch of semiconductor grade silicon used in solar and electronics production.

OH WAIT! I DON'T HAVE $3M FACILITIES TO RUN! Somebody else is out there doing the work that used to take a hundred men. The world doesn't need us all doing 12 hour days, the world wouldn't take us if we even offered.

Newsmedia that repeat blatantly pro-fash talking points as headline grist, are complicit

I don‘t like to see the politics of this miserable country here.

As a young man, I'm just waiting for the AGI breakthrough, so it either fixes the fucking government, or wipes us out. Win-win.
