Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

"This is not what we voted for"

🤦‍♂️

It's exactly what he said he would do.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 8 months ago

And it's not like they can pretend that they didn't know when the people around them, both online and likely irl, were pleading with them to reconsider.

It may very well not be what they voted for. Ads in spanish didn't emphasize immigration the way english media did. Not to say that excuses them from making a horrible choice.

Latinos For Trump Ad

[–] Daggity@lemm.ee 5 points 8 months ago

Yeah, that’s a thought I’ve had a lot since the election. Obviously, the media is captured by monied interests, but the ways that the media contorts for different demographics is interesting. Language barriers creating that hard wall between demographics in this case.

The fact that this person is a state senator is ridiculous, she's clearly way way way too stupid to be having opinions anyone else listens to if any of what's happening now is a surprise to her

...

Bro...

Most state senators are just whatever photogenic person was willing to take the most bribes.

At a certain level intelligence is a downside. Because an idiot will take money with zero guilt, and a smart person would be conflicted because they can see the strings.

Most state senators are fucking idiots because of that. They're just empty suits

Intelligence and popularity hardly ever intertwine

And yes, that's a real quote.

Zero sympathy for collaborators who get their faces eaten by leopards. I hope they suffer.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 13 points 8 months ago

At his fucking rallies...

Hey MORONS, they were chanting this the whole time. These idiots for Trump going all Pikachu face now are just displaying their ignorance. It's infuriating.

On Saturday, Garcia said over text that she hoped to meet with the president, who she described as sympathetic to Cuban political refugees from Cuba and immigrants who came to the United States as children.

🤣🤣🤣 Oh my God...

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 4 points 8 months ago

who she described as sympathetic to Cuban political refugees from Cuba

Yeah.... About that...

His "sympathies" are: hey I can use them as anticommunist propaganda! Useful tools!

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 13 points 8 months ago

[–] Cosmonauticus@lemmy.world 10 points 8 months ago

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 8 months ago

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Ah yes, Palm, right, girl.

[–] EpeeGnome@feddit.online 4 points 8 months ago

Took me a bit to realize, but that's a facepalm gesture.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

8 months late but glad the morons are starting to catch on that they voted for their greatest enemy

[–] Daggity@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago

Honestly, 99% of Republican voters vote for their greatest enemy. It’s just much more obvious when it’s minorities.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

It's sociopathic, and everybody knew Trump is a sociopath and malignant narcissist when he was elected.
Latinas for Trump are crazy, plain and simple. It's probably often based on religious delusions, but delusions that cause you to make decisions that harm yourself, actually mean you are crazy!

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 5 points 8 months ago

She's from Cuban ancestry isn't she.
