People here don't agree with genocide, period. This post is discussing genociding Russians, something Nazis famously wanted to do, and we are critiquing it. The US supported a coup in Ukraine in 2014 against a Russian-friendly government to install a NATO-friendly government, which happened to be neo-Nazis. They sought membership within NATO, something that Ukraine has tried to do various times depsite being against treaties from USSR-times and warnings from Putin not to seek NATO membership. Russia invaded Ukraine to prevent it from joining NATO and continuing the encirclement of Russia by NATO and any potential future NATO-led attack against Russia. Does Putin really care about the Nazis? Probably not, there are also Nazis in Russia. The difference is that the Nazis in Ukraine hold institutional power and were seeking to join NATO. They also threaten to plunge the world into a nuclear war between NATO and Russia. So, he is fighting NATO Nazis in Ukraine primarily to stop the advancement of NATO and potential further nuclear world war.
