Instantly recognized the pic lol I wonder if RL is still making new ones?

[–] Broken_Monitor@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He is. The guy has published an absolutely preposterous number of books and has at least one out this year. They also did a Fear Street netflix series somewhat recently, last year I think.

[–] GlitterInfection@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Fear Street movies are also really solid horror!

[–] Mr_Buscemi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That was a great film trilogy. Definitely on my list for stuff to watch again this month

[–] Touching_Grass@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I had no idea those were RL. No wonder why I like them so much. One of the coolest things I saw come out of Netflix.

Was that based on a more adult (but still young) reading level? The name sounds familiar and I grew up on RL Stine until I found the deluge of books set in the forgotten realms (Dungeons and Dragons setting, for clarity, not written by Stine)

I’m sorry what?! Well fuck, with those plus the new movie I gotta get caught up. Also, is the new movie Goosebumps RL?

E: it is based on Goosebumps by our spooky bed time boi.

Originally I thought it was talking about age. Then I realize there is an entire country that uses the wrong unit.

Ah! I had this goosebumps book! The story was completely unrelated with the cover image

[–] OpenPassageways@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The cover is related to the story, but I believe this cover was also used for a three book anthology which included other stories in addition to "Say Cheese and Die". The main character acquires a camera that either predicts the future or causes bad things to happen... he takes this picture of his family at a BBQ and then die in a car accident or something.

[–] Cascio@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I believe this is "Say Cheese and Die"

Next summer is going to be fun if El Nino pattern holds. It would mean that this year with heat domes, forest fires and floods was just the preview and next year is the main event.

[–] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just wait until El Niño is no more, forever. Then all hell will break loose.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When every year is El Niño year, no year will be El Niño year.

[–] HeisenbergsName@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It'll be renamed to "El Hombre" at this rate

It's going to be 102 here on Friday and we're taking Christmas family pictures that afternoon.

This is fine.

[–] gilbert31@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

The picture comes from the cover of a Goosebumps book, I used to read those when I was a kid, good times.

[–] jagungal@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

It's Spring here in Australia and instead of the nice spring weather it's gone straight to summer weather (including fires). We're so fucked

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

83? Where in the far far north do you live?

[–] moonsnotreal@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I live like a 45 min drive from Canada and it's been like 85 and sunny for 2 weeks. It feels like a sauna

Been in the 60s and 70s for the last two months here in Imperial Beach. If I were any further south, I'd be in Mexico.

[–] RagnarokOnline@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

IT TAKES A LOT OF EMOTIONAL MATURITY TO ADMIT THAT YOUR FAMILY OF ORIGIN ISN’T PERFECT. I ADMIRE THAT LEVEL OF INTROSPECTION.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU’RE CRANKING THE HAWG OF LIFE BROTHER; MAY IT CRACK YOU BACK IN RETURN!
