Set up a gallows, invade the capitol building, and scream “hang Mike Pence” and you deserve a pardon.

But AOC deserves to be charged with terrorism because some rando mentioned guillotines?

[–] ovalofsand@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

The hypocrisy is the point. It's signals to his ilk that they can break the rules while the rest have to follow them..

it's the bully who draws the Line in the Sand and says you can't step over it and then takes a step forward and draws another line it says the same thing and then just keeps doing it until they're up in your face yelling about how abusive YOU are, meanwhile you're surrounded by a gaggle of idiots who are all nodding their head in agreement because all they understand is that someone angry is correct because they just want to share in the moment of being angry

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 139 points 1 day ago (1 children)

AOC was at a rally where someone else said to bring out the guillotines therefore AOC is a terrorist for her "abominable speech?"

Which party actually brought out a guillotine?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

If bringing out a guillotine and other "kill them" devices is terrorism then January 6th was a huge terrorist attack

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

You don't understand.

"He who saves his country breaks no laws" ~trump

He who decides who is saving the country decides who breaks the laws.

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mark my words, AOC will end up in jail, dead, or disappeared.

The GOP is going full fascist. They can't have this strong POC woman causing a ruckus.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (3 children)

We hope it doesn't happen and that we can get change through her. If not, we keep the guillotines sharp.

The revolution will be bloodless, if they allow it, right?

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Keep them sharp? No one is building them. They don't exist. People aren't doing shit.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

A guillotine takes only a few hours to build. And that's doing alone!

[–] oz1sej@discuss.online 3 points 1 day ago

We hope it doesn't happen

Hope is not a plan.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone -5 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

This shit is so cringe. This isn't a fucking video game, this is real life. Grow the fuck up.

[–] suite403@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

That last part is literally repeating what they said, and by they, i mean MAGA leadership, not just some rando on the internet.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 112 points 1 day ago

If ONLY Jasmine Crockett and AOC had BROKEN Windows in the Capitol, Smeared their Poop on the Walls, and brought WEAPONS with them, Republicans would be FINE with them!

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 21 points 1 day ago

What is it those MAGA fucks like to say? Cry more.

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 85 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Isn't this some real nazi fascist like tactics? Are they just testing the waters?

If they could actually get the few progressives we have in prison on BS charges, I think they would. And their supporters would cheer.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago

Isn’t this some real nazi fascist like tactics? Are they just testing the waters?

No, this is exactly what they're trying to do. So far it's worked with media outlets, law firms, and colleges. They keep their own ranks in line via either threats of a primary challenge backed by Musk, or outright death threats from Trump's followers. They are experimenting with disappearing people to foreign countries, and Trump has already openly threatened to ship US protesters there.

[–] HeadfullofSoup@kbin.earth 46 points 1 day ago

They are real nazi

[–] wide_eyed_stupid@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, really all they need to do is arrest her on some bullshit charge, drag her into a black van and put her on a plane to El Salvador. Who's going to know about it, or do anything about it? It'd be a chilling message to all their enemies.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They'd be bragging about it on the news in order to promote the chilling effect. The question at that point would be if it caused an armed reaction. They want to start a civil war because they think they will win.

[–] wide_eyed_stupid@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If they pulled something like this, do you think people would finally get into action?

It really feels like they're testing the waters before going full-on Nazi and dragging their political opponents off the street.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

I've give it a good 15 to 20% chance that the public, or a governor, would show up with enough force of arms to cause a civil war. Outside of that I'd give it a 50/50 chance of working out for the Nazi's. The reality though is that the left isn't organized around any kind of physical force. The worst thing the right could do is cause that to change. Because of course they would immediately try to stop it, causing a military Streisand effect. If your political opponents are organizing to physically protect themselves from you, attacking them for it, will make them organize and react with violence much faster. The only thing worse than organized violence, is quickly escalating organized violence.

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 day ago

The way things are going I expect the first attack along these lines on an opposition politician within a month.

This was always the inveitable end result of the cancerous growth of fear mongering around terrorism to a hyperbolic degree post 9/11.

This was always the inveitable end result of the Authorization Of Military Force which broke the brakes on this train.

Liberals helped normalize this, Obama drone striking US citizens, liberals scoffing at pardoning Snowden, the list goes on and on.

Further it is a very disengenous read to act like the FBI hasn't always been like this, they just weren't stupid enough to publically advertise their soft spot for conservative political and cultural authoritarianism in the past.

Conservatives deserve the bulk of the blame, but we have to be careful to also blame those that pretended to be in opposition to this kind of thing while slowly normalizing dangerous rightwing narratives.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Good fucking luck. The Judicial is still against all this bullshit, you fascist pieces of excrement.

[–] chakan2@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

Not really. They'll route this through the conservative courts. Project 2025 is on schedule.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Really? Because I haven't seen them doing a whole hell of a lot about it besides issuing the occasional court orders that the Trump administration continues to ignore without consequence.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Should be penalties for bullshit like this.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Should be unable to walk the streets for bullshit like this.
