Please do not touch bats, even if they do not carry diseases (most do not) they are incredibly fragile and spook easily. Larger varieties can be handled safely if you are trained, but for the protection of both yourself and the bats, leave them alone and appreciate them at a distance.
Tell that to the bats when they crash the dinner party by coming down the chimney.
