Sure, because his threat was so successful at intimidating us the first time. What's the definition of insanity, again?

What’s the definition of insanity, again?

Voting for the same two political parties for longer you've been alive and expecting things to change for the better.

That's more an example of Stockholm syndrome. There isn't exactly another choice

Edit: in the US

[–] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 1 points 5 months ago

Is that man just bored with his life or he's like a Nelson from the Simpson's fanboy?

Who's the master of puppets in his case?

I suppose,

As long as it isn’t coming out of his or his friends pockets 🤷🏻

You disagree?

Well, since they used a chainsaw to simulate the cut in burocracy, someone could use the same analogy to simulate the cut in unbalanced richness of some useless monkey

[–] leaky_shower_thought@feddit.nl 25 points 5 months ago (2 children)

my bet is he will walk the threat back again and declare it a victory.

saved america again from a looming "trade war".

[–] Eril@feddit.org 8 points 5 months ago

I will always assume he is not actually going to put any tariffs up until they are actually in effect and so should probably everyone else.

He wants to extend tax cuts on the other hand, and Canada would cut rates to nothing so its exports would get cheaper as CAD falls, which is deflationary for the US.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 5 months ago

Oh please do. Every time Trump attacks Canada their conservative party loses popularity. Maybe he should announce a 5% increase every month thereafter.

It's also causing Canada (and the rest of the world) to reduce their reliance on the US for trade so double win

Lumber.

HGTV will probably die.

And housing. New housing costs up 25%+, probably.

More wage slaves paying 70% of their monthly income as rent to investment firms

So what you’re saying is groceries won’t be cheaper.

[–] PanArab@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago

This could be good for Morocco.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago

Does this mean more lumber for Canadian businesses?

[–] Sodium_nitride@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

CBSA officials seized some eight million grams of drugs compared to five million taken by U.S. Custom and Border Protection (CBP) officials last year, government data shows.

Even when using SI units, Americans just have to make it weird somehow. 8 million grams? Who the hell uses grams like that? Just call it 8000 kilos or something

[–] janNatan@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Look, Americans are not familiar with kilograms. However, we do know grams... because... reasons.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I guess it's because they use to nab people for way smaller amount of drugs so they used the same unit even in case of huge haul for consistency. Still weird tho, SI units are made to be completely consistent at all times.

[–] janNatan@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'm making a joke. Americans know what a kilogram is.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago

Well they did have some pretty embarassing mistakes even at NASA level, so it's hard to tell

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Its literally 1000 grams, kilo means 1000. Just like kilobytes. It's like when you read that someone has 1k dollars, or 1kk = 1m = 1,000,000.

You should be as familiar with kilograms as grams... It's literally just a multiplier.

[–] janNatan@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I was making a joke because drugs are sold in grams here.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I got that. Still, it's basic math.

[–] janNatan@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 months ago

Still it's just a joke.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 2 points 5 months ago
[–] PanArab@lemmy.ml 8 points 5 months ago

If this will lead to an increase in oil prices then I'm all for it.

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago

Trump, like the rest of his family, alive or dead, are dumb fucking cunts!

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago

Mr Trump, tear down this empire
