I wish I had played this game sooner. Don't spoil anything, but is there something I should DEFINITELY do?

I love you all left-unity-4

No spoilers, but a general observation. The game was written by communists so the communist content is written as introspective self-critique, both funny and sad, and you can feel where the writers are coming from.

I have more to say, but it veers into spoilers so I'll save it for the future. The game is unironically so well written that it's worth mentally engaging with nearly everything anyone says. Enjoy your time with it!

Make sure that when the bar owner tries to get you to pay for damages at the start that you say "fuck you" and run away.

Failing that check made me fall in love with the game

Definitely look for cryptids. Trust me

[–] ChestRockwell@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I am fully cryptid pilled. I've been doing everything I can to look for this thing

Failing checks is fine, and you might get to see some very interesting things from failing checks, so don't feel bad if you do.

do your reading before going to the communist meeting

white checks can be repeated but red ones cannot, so feel free to FAFO with the red ones

Save the game frequently... That's all I have to say

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

The communist arc is the best one. Some amazing quotes.

at some point you will encounter a payphone on a beach. keep interacting with it until you can't

[–] CredibleBattery@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

don't be afraid to savescum! but also, don't be afraid to lose checks! .....that's counterintuitive, sorry.

what i'm trying to say here is that you should go crazy, talk to everyone, make a beat and hit a little jig, find some bugs, have some fun! (as long as that fun doesn't involve alcohol)

[–] DinosaurThussy@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

If a piece of your clothing starts talking, buying the spirits from the drunk in the fishing village is an absolute must, but only for 3 reál, not 300 reál.

Keep one skill point in reserve so you don't softlock yourself

You should DEFINITELY seek out the communism side quest. I think it appears in your journal as something like "make contact with your fellow communists"? There are a few people who will point you towards the event I'm talking about that are missable if you rush through the investigation.

Iron sharpens iron! It's not like liberals are skilled debaters.

[–] Juice@midwest.social 4 points 1 week ago

Liberals are debate masters. I can't hardly open Lemmy without seeing liberals master debating all over the place. Master debating about Trump and Putin, master debating about the China and the CCP, I'm beginning to think the only thing liberals actually do, is master debate.
