It's 2020 forever!
Just going to comment that with this one, we are going to need eye protection as the virus really likes the eyes.
So for this one, masking isn't enough.
If anyone does riskier stuff, stoggles or a face shield, a good mask and protective gloves are probably a good combo for safety. And of course hand washing and avoidance of hand-to-eye contact.

You'll have people who normally wear glasses every waking moment to see, making a point of doing that glass-on-head thing even if means they can't see a thing, if it means "owning the libs".
This will definitely happen. We will see these people walking head on into lamp posts because "muh liberty".
And if you've got crazy dry eyes like me, there's some really cool (and unfortunately really expensive) glasses for dry eyes called "moisture chamber" glasses. A piece of silicon magnetically attaches to your glasses and goes mostly flush with your face to keep moisture in. Would also stand to reason it keeps out a lot.
They're kinda dorky looking, but it is the curse I must bear to not feel like stabbing my eyes out.
Hey it's Feb 2020.
The eternal pandemic for the eternal cure
turns out we skipped a fuckload of leap years so feb 2020 gets to be a couple thousand days to make up for it
Bird to human spread again, but like how many warnings are we going to get
and it was a backyard coop as well, so imagine all the various chicken coop owners living out in the ruff and skeptical of vaccinating or checking up on their birds when they start acting "odd"
Had a colleague today tell me their dad keeps chickens and has lost 3 birds in the last few weeks

A guy was watching a news video about bird flu as I queued at the post office and I thought fuck I'm at the start of a zombie movie where small details are being given in the background.
Reminds me of 2020 when I was at a café and every conversation you could hear in passing was something to do with infection rates, what a lockdown was, and Italy's infection rates

How does this compare to how covid started?
Well when covid started we were unprepared and panic guided the initial response.
This time we are prepared with tested and effective methods of ensuring no public panic will occur and people will continue going into work.
Well, this one's been around a while and we do have vaccines... They're not producing them and I doubt the brain worm will allow them to be. COVID was completely new, so it suddenly hit and a lot of people dropped like flies before there was alarm. To me it seemed like nobody was watching for it, this one is being watched closely.

It is wild to me though that there aren't mass vaccination drives like, what is the harm in doing it preemptively?
what if the pandemic never happens and we made ourselves safer for no reason? 
An additional safety precaution would be to euthanize whomever says this and means it.

There was a moment where we were on the good timeline and everyone was gonna switch to cool cyberpunk face masks. I even bought a little 3d printed one with some spots for leds. That was not to be however
