Bit idea, we all join CPUSA and do a little illegal-to-say

[-] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago

Why the fuck even call it communist at this point?

‘The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.’

The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims

I dunno, CPUSA is pretty open about their views and aims to elect democrats

[-] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 day ago

""radical"" political orgs using wordpress (to the point of not even bothering to change the favicon) are honeypots. prove me wrong.

[-] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

wordpress favicon is an immediate signal that your ops team are clowns

[-] BRINGit34@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 day ago

I was paying dues to cpusa a while ago but I stopped after hearing their opinion on Israel.

They are a deeply unserious org.

The PSL seems to be run much better and has actually good opinions

[-] jack@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

My PSL branch just poached the only valuable local CPUSA member soviet-huff

Hexbear: I wonder who's the admin behind the "lionizing Luigi is cringe" ruling?

Hexbear goes to unhood the shadowy figure only for the shadowy figure to dramatically unhood themselves and reveal themselves to be

Pluto: It's me, Hexbear!

Hexbear: Aw, son of a b*tch.

Pluto: It was me all along, Hexbear!

Only people’s movements built on collective non-violent struggle will be able to successfully resist the MAGA agenda and compel change that meets the needs of the great mass of working and oppressed people in the U.S. and internationally.

Oh, honey, bless your heart

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago

Marx and Engels wrote plenty about how violence might be unavoidable. Y'know, the people who Marxist-Leninists (CPUSA is supposedly ML) beliefs are fundamentally based on. Lenin had quite similar things to say. Condemning adventurism is a common ML line, but they seem to go a bit far.

"Will the peaceful abolition of private property be possible? It would be desirable if this could happen, and the communists would certainly be the last to oppose it....But they also see that the development of the proletariat in nearly all civilised countries has been violently suppressed...we communists will defend the interests of the proletarians with deeds as we now defend them with words" - Engels. Where are they getting that "only..non-violent struggle" from?

I mean, I sorta get where they're coming from, endorsing violence has dubious legality, but if you have to compromise so hard why say anything at all.

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

"do not haggle over principles, do not make 'concessions' in theory" - marx
"Without a revolutionary theory there can be no revolutionary movement" - lenin

[-] quarrk@hexbear.net 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Both of those statements ought to be attributed to Lenin, since the first one seems to be Lenin’s paraphrasing (in What Is To Be Done?) of this letter written by Marx

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 64 points 2 days ago

CPUSA is trapped in amber from the civil rights era of politics.

[-] iie@hexbear.net 73 points 2 days ago

Except there were widespread riots in the civil rights era, violent unrest was a major factor behind the civil rights act. They’re trapped in the version of the civil rights era that we learn about in high school.

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

iirc there were still many orgs using the same sort of nonviolence rhetoric at the time. I wasn't saying the represent the entirety of the civil rights movement.

[-] Florn@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago

Imagine learning about the civil rights era in high school instead of stopping at WW1 every year

[-] Mindfury@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

non-violent struggle

[-] dRLY@hexbear.net 32 points 1 day ago

It would have been better if they had just not said anything. Or if they had to still say anything, they could have focused on how this could be a point of building solidarity. Even right-wing working class people are in agreement on how fucked for-profit healthcare is for all of us. But no, they chose to take the same general path as the capitalist propaganda outlets. They hate using real material moments to do revolutionary shit. Deny, Defend, Depose!

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 41 points 1 day ago

I am being proven right about my decision to leave CPUSA every day

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 90 points 2 days ago

Everyone: "Join an org"

The org:

[-] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 72 points 2 days ago

CPUSA officially condemns Luigi for doing propaganda of the deed

bloomer

says he should have phone banked towards "Medicare For All" instead

lukashenko-tired

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 55 points 2 days ago

If you actually read the statement they pointedly never condemned Luigi but instead explicitly condemned United Health.

They did try to spin this into a revival of m4a when its clearly dead. At this point GameStop style shenanigans would be more effective than phone banking.

[-] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

says he should have phone banked towards "Medicare For All" instead

They didn't say that, this post's title came from a r/Trueanon post that similarly did them dirty.

All the article does is call for mass action rather than individual violence that probably (let's see if there are any copycats) lead to anything

[-] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 58 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I hate that we can't disband the cpusa because the feds would just make another new one full of feds.

[-] 2Password2Remember@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago

i-cant

Death to America

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

as if anyone needed further reason to avoid that org at all costs

[-] Red_Renewal_Cosmonaut@hexbear.net 45 points 2 days ago

CPUSA needs to disband, their stance on gaza is evil

Liberalism.

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 45 points 2 days ago

Despite recognizing a real issue, Mangione acted in an individualistic manner that doesn’t strengthen the struggle for real change in this system on behalf of the people who require healthcare and their families and communities.

This hardly much of a condemnation and is basically what most socialist organizations would put out. You basically say this or say nothing at all.

[-] Lemister@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago

Agreed its mostly the the non-violence part and the lib “oh call your senator” thing that gets people riled.

[-] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)
[-] Mindfury@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

why condemn luigi when he didn't do anything?

[-] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

well he did retweet that shit

[-] Mindfury@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

very true, my mistake
