Ukrainian troops marching into Crimea any day now.
bro seriously lmao i dont follow the war cuz its cringe but i legit thought ukraine was doing something till i saw this pic.
reddit man...
Yeah this pic really does make the whole thing look like a backyard fistfight between Nazis who disagree over the smallest shit
i legit thought ukraine was doing something
Oh Ukraine "did something" over the past 4 months, don't worry. They ground roughly a dozen brigades to dust trying to overcome the Russian minefields.
It's like 30² miles of gain
And for what?
How many people died for this?
Prop that domino up with corpses
On September 5th, during a meeting with other military leaders, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Ukrainian forces had lost more than 66,000 troops and 7,600 heavy weapons since the counteroffensive's start on June 4th. Shoigu also claimed that “despite the colossal cost in manpower and equipment, the Ukrainian government continues its operation because it desperately needs to show some kind of success to its Western sponsors. Shoigu also made the claim that “in no area did the Armed Forces of Ukraine achieve their goals."
Trench Warfare moment
the Battle of the Somme be like ..
"Are you even trying ?"
If I ever talk to a lib about Ukraine, I always feel like the last thing they read about the war was around March last year
I like how all gains made by Ukraine are in the solid color, with no regards to if there's ongoing fighting in those areas, while the Russian lines are marked as limited control (implying that the are about to be breached.)
We did it reddit!
strange to see this post ended with "why's russia stopped advancing though???". war is hell. neither side is making the map do a funny hoi4 dance because they're a bunch of conscripts in ditches trying not to fuckin die
The date on there says 1st of August?
spot the difference
Huh, you're right. I found a more updated pic.
I knew the counteroffensive was flopping, but this is some sad shit. Ignoring the various neo-nazis, I feel bad for the many conscripts sent to the meat-grinder by both armies.
damn this war is morally AND strategically identical to World War 1
damn this war is morally AND strategically identical to World War 1
Not quite - the final downfall of the whole deplorable Western world is MUCH closer now
These maps are literally produced by the makers of weaponry in America. So I guess they'll say whatever they think will produce the most support for more spending on war.
The Ukrainians must know that they're getting Kursked but they can't say anything or the West will get cold feet and stop feeding in money and weapons. All they can do is pray that the Russians aren't planning a Bagration-style followup offensive that the Ukrainians can't do anything about because their reserves are exhausted.
No idea whats going on with russia. Why've they stopped advancing?
I don't know, maybe they're preparing for another advance, maybe they'll wait until next year, when the US will probably see that sending arms and money to Ukraine will do nothing to help them, and sending US/NATO soldiers would start World War III. Maybe the US will negotiate a peace treaty giving Russia the land it wants. But who knows.
Maybe the US will negotiate a peace treaty giving Russia the land it wants.
Kinda doubt it. The US military can afford to fund pointless money-sucks for decades. Unless its focus shifts to China in the near future, I don't see why they'd let up in the Ukraine.
You can't really trust anything from a goverent that feigned "the ace of Kiev" was a Ukrainian fighting Russians, and not a video game montage. So much propaganda is coming out on both sides; but coupled that with the Ukrainian government persecuting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, I don't trust a thing coming out of that country.
Maybe Russia stopped being sapped by the war. And by not advancing have started to do some sapping of their own.
Or idk you could look at not just a unique time slice you pick for propaganda https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60506682
Is there supposed to be a huge difference
Am I missing something or...isn't that the same map? it's even stated in the body of the post
Yes, you are missing quite a lot
I make approximately thirty square miles of difference total, or basically within the margin of error for a map like this. So no difference.
Huh. I wonder what all that red means
There is literally no difference between that article and this lmao.
Half a million people are dead over lines on a map and you bloodthirsty shits are arguing as if it's fucking worth it.
Whose bloodthirsty? I'm saying the invaders should leave and stop killing people. Anyone pushing for Russian aggression is probably just a Russian plant. They got that good good propaganda.
I think they meant "How many dead Ukrainians is it worth to keep a portion of the country full of people they don't like within their de facto governance?" I don't see anyone pushing for Russian aggression, I see people frustrated by the body count compared to the results on the map.
I think this NATO bot got lost, poor sweet thing.
From the infograph at the bottom of the article it looks like nothing has happened in the 'Ukraine advances' section
