This is to remind the viewer that the Lion King is a work of fiction, as in real life, bootlickers will keep licking even as their skull is stomped in by that selfsame boot.

Yes but art mimics life mimics art and so the cycle continues.

I think it's a "circle" of life.

As I heard a pastor say, 'The crowd chose Barabus, not jesus.' Even when there is a better option, it doesn't guarantee a win.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Yeah. Fuck.

Remember in WW2 when all the Germans turned on Hitler and killed him?

Oh wait. They didn’t.

It took the Italians having lost before they acted, and they’re currently being led by his offspring both political and biological.

To be fair, Giorgia Meloni has somehow been acting more moderate than expected.

My bingo card has "deposed by inner circle as scapegoat", "no longer coherent enough to rally base" and "VP takes over".

Yeah, those Heritage guys are using Trump as a short cut to power. His usefulness is almost up. I doubt Trump has the capacity to outmaneuver them. He is almost 80, right?

Add "exposes himself during a public appearance".

I swear I'm not a cannibal, but I am so desperate to eat some billionaire stew

Don’t eat junk food. Instead, compost and use it to grow healthy veggies.

(They’ll taste better anyway.)

I am looking forward to breaking the ventilation system after they retreat to their bunkers and knowing they will suffocate in their Dimond encrusted vaults.

This sounds like a beautiful poem

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 12 points 11 months ago (3 children)

The lion king has some weird toxic messages in it if we’re being honest.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 18 points 11 months ago

Whah? The children's movie which naturalizes a monarchy? Naaaah. /j

Pride Rock is in Alabama confirmed

[–] paw@feddit.org 10 points 11 months ago

This video fits pretty well don't be a sucker. America once knew better. Imho we should call the people who vote and support him suckers. Because this is exactly what they are.

[–] LiamTheBox@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

So...

Eat the rich?

[–] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The lion king, is about an oppressive regime and their "in group" that live in the pride lands.

The hyenas are an oppressed underclass that is easily radicalized by the promise of power over their oppressors. The whole situation could have been avoided easily, simply by Mufassa raising up the hyenas to equality with the rest of the animals.

The hyenas clearly had enough power to topple the pride lands, since they did it.

Stop ruining my childhood 😜

[–] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 1 points 11 months ago

I don't recommend watching your childhood movies as an adult.

Kids like good/bad simple story lines....when you look as an adult, it often looks like the "bad" guys are actually the good guys.

the direction of the nation is fucked permanently

second hand vengeance will not change it

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

A nation is only as doomed as its people let it be.

So, uh, yeah, not looking great right now, but it's only permanent as long as we accept it as so.
