It's for their safety. At that age the might build a sentient robot that votes for Trump who will then take away their social security. Thank you Lego, for responsible toy stewartship.

+1 for the double entendre title šŸ˜„

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 16 points 2 months ago

Thanks, I was proud of that.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

As well you should be šŸ˜„šŸ¤œ

Pardon my ignorance - what's 'play with my nuts' a reference to for Carter, aside from his gonads?

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 7 points 2 months ago

They made him put his family peanut farm in a blind trust so that he couldnā€™t benefit it during his time in office.

[-] Confused_Emus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

He was a peanut farmer.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago

Do YOU want to tell Jimmy Carter what he can and can't play with?

I didn't think so.

[-] Amanduh@lemm.ee 14 points 2 months ago

What's he gonna do? Beat me up?

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

This is how you get Isekai's to the peanut farmer world.

[-] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 10 points 2 months ago

"I Antagonized Jimmy Carter Over the Internet And Now I'm In Another World But I'm a Peanut That Farms and Also There's A Demon King?!?!?!?!?!"

Totally underrated series that really picks up in Season 4.

I find "LEGOs" very upsetting.

Lego is not an acronym. It does not usually get all-caps in prose, though the all-caps logotype is sometimes imitated in text.

Lego is a proper name, and is also used as a collective noun. It does not get pluralized.

"You can't play with Lego anymore."

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

fuck that. Lego is a company and I don't need it to tell me how I can and cannot use their name. if they don't like it they can suck my dick.

I really don't understand why there are so many people passionate about how to "properly" use The Trademarkā„¢ in The Way that was Sanctioned by The CorporationĀ®

just play with your Legos and get over it

[-] dev_null@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 months ago

I assume the people are passionate about grammar, and their corrections have nothing to do with respecting trademarks.

Actually, they are advocating against using it how the Lego company does. The Lego company uses LEGO in all caps.

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'm pretty sure the reason Lego isn't supposed to be used is because they don't want the trademark to be genericized. the all caps thing is stylization, I doubt they give a shit if you type it all caps or not.

[-] lime@feddit.nu 6 points 2 months ago

LEGO is too an acronym. it stands for Leg Godt, Danish for "play well"

[-] Bassman1805@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That's...not an acronym. That'd just be LG.

Sorry Jimmy, it's Mega only for you now

[-] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 10 points 2 months ago

Probably not, cause they'll make some decent sets and then send then send them to a random Walmart in bumfuck Idaho and nowhere else, unless you want to pay 4x the price on Amazon.

Honestly I think Mattel don't want to be in the brick business sometimes.

[-] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

At least he still has 37 years to play with a Koosh ball

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Jeez. Even my dog who loved her Koosh ball was only 98 in dog years when she died. They're apparently making them for tortoises.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

There is actually an official clarification from LEGO that the 99 years is definitely not a hard upper limit.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 8 points 2 months ago

No one is getting hard at 99.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Not since Roz passed last year anyway

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I don't know whether that's funny or sad.

[-] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

This meme made me sad.

[-] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

Over a 100 years old, you can do whatever the fuck you want. You're gonna throw him in jail? He doesn't even know if he'll live for another hour.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I mean, his are probably hanging so low by now that they make legitimately enjoyable fidget toy.

Conspiracy theory time: maybe they hate old peopleā€¦

[-] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'm certain that Jimmy Carter has every reason to be satisfied with the amount he's built.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Fuck those Vikings, Jimmy! You go ahead and build that AT-AT.

[-] bucketofcandyfloss@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 months ago

you can never be too old for legos

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

You need to be between 4-99 years of age
