Last month, police roundups euphemistically called "migration raids" took place in several Russian regions, with police and military conscription officials targeting food markets and agricultural warehouses, both places where migrant labourers are typically employed. Anyone found to have recently obtained Russian citizenship but who hadn’t registered with the local conscription office was reportedly either issued with draft notices on the spot or taken to the military authorities directly.

Is it really anyone, or does conscription only apply to men, as per usual? This double standard is so prevalent that it's not even reported accurately.

Yes, only men.

Russia's recruitment process is mind bogglingly disgusting. They have even begun to kidnap thousands of Ukrainian children which they attempt to "reeducate" and russify.

As Russia is facing huge demographic problems (less and less young people that can serve in the military) yet has long term imperial ambitions and a history of preferring to sacrifice ethnic minorities on the front line it's likely that at least some of these children are to be part of the next generation of soldiers.

The Romans tried this in the 3rd century AD. Did not go all that great for them all things considered.

But isn't Moscow the new Rome (or something along those lines)? Surely this time it'll work just fine. After all, they managed to make so many other things work. Like, um… other things that'll surely come back to me eventually.

Russians have made many things work, stupid Westoid!!

For example: extreme propaganda, building strong alliances with brutal dictatorships, assassinating political opponents, smashing things into the moon, terrorist attacks on hospitals, extreme wealth inequality.
