If the VA is having money trouble, they should be allowed to dip into the military budget.

I’m no lover of war, but if you tell someone to go risk their life, you better be willing to pony up later for medical treatment.

Specifically the operating budget. That way we stop making new problems right away.

9/11 GI Bill veterans remember the last time. This time it's all the disabled veterans on the block too.

At this point we need to create a fund when we declare war and be upfront about these costs.

Like USPS' outrageous pension overfunding requirements, get on it Repubs.

They'd probably give it a dollar and refuse to ever revisit it.

I mean, we're in the middle of a record breaking year for signups...

And I've heard people say even 10% gets you full health coverage now. So everybody that didn't bother for 10%, are all signing up.

Article has pretty big names from both parties involved. And none of them will be willing to take a lose like this before a big election.

The timing of elections right after fiscal year ends is a huge boon that goes unrecognized. Which is the only reason I'm concerned we're talking about getting rid of it in the government.

Sign ups are also high because all the old warhorses are getting out and realizing their new civilian friends don't have knees that click. (Or one of any other hundred things)

Except it's not people who just got out...

You can probably find the numbers somewhere. But everyone I know thats been out in the last decade already have theirs. Hell, when I got out they had a class and we filled out paperwork while still active duty

What I have seen is a lot of elderly co-workers who have been out 30+ years realizing they're close to retirement age with no way to pay for insurance.

With recent changes (I believe) 10% tinnitus gets them full healthcare now. So everyone that's ever been in is signing up so they can stop working
