MODERATORS

Image is of a colectivo: an armed group, usually operating in impoverished areas, which act to support and defend the socialist government of Venezuela. They are often derided as vigilante terrorist groups which prop up the government, because cops are only bad when they are socialist and not murdering minorities, I suppose.

Maduro's party, the PSUV, has won the election after a staggering amount of propaganda by the opposition, who said their polls suggested they were going to win and that Maduro's loss was inevitable. The reaction across Latin America is what one would expect. Left-leaning leaders are generally respecting the results and congratulating Maduro, while those on the right and/or are US puppets (such as in semirecently-couped Peru) are calling for recounts, or even that the election was illegitimate. The US itself is also unhappy about the results. We shall soon see if their unhappiness boils over into yet another coup attempt.

Personally, I think they should have ran Guaido again.

Thank you to @Redcuban1959@hexbear.net for the election coverage here, and everything else they do in the news megathread.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

French authorities have arrested an activist for an ultra-left wing movement at an SNCF rail company site, days after sabotage attacks paralyzed the network, a police source said Monday.

The man was detained at Oissel in northern France on Sunday and had access keys to SNCF technical premises, tools and literature linked to the ultra-left, said the source, asking not to be named.

The protestors in Venezuela that Elon Musk et. al. support have set fire to a hospital tonight.

Hospitals have traditionally been a favourite target of the Venezuelan right-wing

Opposition supporters have burned down a pharmacy in Caracas that catered to underprivileged Venezuelans.

The Governments of Russia and China condemned the destabilization attempts in Venezuela and reaffirmed their support for President Maduro.

Seems like protests have died down during the night. Chavistas will be marching around Caracas today, so we might see some fights, or this could scare off the opposition.

If wonder if that pathetic little clapping seal display in the US Congress last week emboldened Israel at all? I mean, Israel already knew they had overwhelming support in Congress… but just the way all those reps and senators completely debased themselves. That had to have made the Israelis feel that congressional rep will start engaging in fistfights over who can give them more money. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fetterman proposes we just literally hand over every US military asset and personnel to Israel.

Venezuelan opposition in shambles

What I think will happen in the next days. The opposition was saying yesterday that they won with 70% to 80% of the vote, without any irony. They were 100% serious, and Machado, Gonzalez, was literally silent for most of the event, said that the army should stage a coup. Milei also said that. By the way, the opposition was saying that they won from 10 o'clock in the morning, because most of their voters vote in the morning, and they were "leaking" polls and votes showing how they won 99 brazillion votes and Maduro only won 2.

Today they are saying that they won with 60% of the vote against Maduro's 32%, which are still absurd figures. What I think will happen is that, apart from the far-right and really pro-US governments in Latin America. Most governments will recognize Maduro as the winner.

The US will tell the opposition to back off its aggression. They will probably change the whole fraud issue to “Actually, there was no fraud, but it was an unfair election! Because they didn't let the neo-Nazi Ivan Duque personally count every vote!”. The US will maintain some sanctions, but will still buy oil from Venezuela and deport Venezuelans back to Venezuela.

I don't think the US can intervene militarily in Venezuela. Not with the Russian navy in Cuba, specially the nuclear sub there. And without support from Colombia and Brazil.

South Africa congratulated Maduro's election victory. Election observers from South Africa also stated the elections were free and fair, with them also praising the abundance of voting stations, prompt audits, ID and biometric verification, electronic voting also with backup paper ballots. The observation was supported by COSATU, ANC, EFF, SACP, A4P, among others. The live radio station Salaamedia also stated that it should come as no surprise the usual Western suspects disputed the election results.

Seeing what happened in Venezuela and Lemmy liberals still defending the opposition really shows how hard liberals have faith in their institutions without question. Even citing questionable anecdotes that said institutions refer to as “proof” of rigged elections.

Reminds me of when Destiny fans kept referencing Twitter posts from “reputable sources” to prove that Hamas did indeed behead Israeli babies.

When you annoy the local organizing groupchat arguing with the fed/plant who has been continuously posting on behalf of US state propaganda against Iran, Hezbollah and the resistance even if nominally being in the 'pro-Palestine' group, after he starts caping for the right wing color revolution in Venezuela

President Maduro remarks Elon Musk's posts to X last night, claiming that a photo served as evidence that NM stole the elections. "Elon Musk, you're so desperate..control yourself." "You want a fight? I'm prepared. I'm a son of Bolívar and Chávez. I'm not afraid of you."

"You show [Elon Musk] a map and ask him where Venezuela is, he'll show you Asia. He doesn't even know where it is." "The Empire, the Pentagon create technologies and puts them in the hands of private people.."

lol

"I want to reassure Australians probable does not mean inevitable, and it does not mean it is intelligence about an imminent threat or danger," Mr Albanese said.

"[But] when the temperature of the security environment is rising, we must lower the temperature of debate."

Mr Albanese said Australians must be able to resolve their differences peacefully and debate political issues like the conflict in Gaza peacefully.

"No one is suggesting people should have conformity to particular views, but the way people express things is important," he said.

"It is not normal to have people in occupations for months outside electorate offices, where the work of those electorate offices is to assist people."

The official terror alert level was last raised to "probable" in 2014 with the emergence of the Islamic State terrorist group.

Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay express “deep concern about the conduct of the elections” in Venezuela and request an urgent meeting of the OAS on the matter.

All currently under right-wing puppet regimes. In Paraguay's case, a one-state party, all the opposition candidates questioned the legality of the previous election lol.

Uruguay, Peru and Ecuador are really funny because soon there will be presidential elections there and the current presidents won't be able to get reelected due to unpopularity. Theres literally an energy blackout in Ecuador rn. Panama elected a guy who was hiding inside an embassy as their president.

Argentina is under an ancap, their opinion is irrelevant. Doubt Milei will last next year.

cock Yeah fuck the communist party of venezuela I'm convinced there's something very very wrong with its central committee.

So in Portugal a journalist from "Radio Observador", the radio branch of the online right wing publication Observador, an outlet known for never having turned a profit but still getting funding due to its role in promoting right wing ideas in the country's discourse, said that someone from the PCV left THEM OF ALL PEOPLE a note saying, and they quote, "the portuguese communist party are our brothers, but you think you know venezuela better than us?", due to the party having congratulated maduro instead of appealing for intervention.

The journalist could be speaking figuratively or just lying, but then it would be pretty weird to put that note part in quotes making it look like a citation.

Also ironic that this outlet, who never invites the communist party to anything finally found space in its website for communist ideas, they just had to be ideas that align with impearealism.

In fact a whole lot of people from the far-left especially and to the far-right, who don't give a flying fuck about the IMCWP communist parties like the PCV (and just call them stalinists or whatever) suddently love this party and use it to legitimate their own pro-interference position. Really shows how fucked of a statement the PCV put out if ANYONE can quote it to be like "see see, we should keep sanctioning this country".

Lula da Silva talks about the Venezuela Situation.

"I think it was a normal and free process. But they have to solve the dispute. If the opposition has a problem, they should go to the judicial system and follow the correct procedures to file a complaint. They have that right. Now, the government also has the right to demonstrate that it has won, freely and cleanly.”

"We will wait for the electoral process to be published, and we will respond in the right way when it is published.”

Very similar to AMLO's speech. I believe Petro will do the same soon. I think the Venezuela opposition will burn all the good will they have with some leftist and latino liberals. I have been checking twitter and the liberals were first 100% with Gonzalez, calling Maduro a dictator.

Then the Venezuela Opposition begun literally doing the same as Bolsonaro and Trump did. And the Liberals begun then both siding the two. It also didn't help the opposition keeps changing the numbers from 80% to 75% to 70% to 73% to 69% and finally recently: 68%. I doubt this will affect Petro and Lula's popularity too much. Can't say the same for Boric.

What really made the liberals angry at Gonzalez and Machado, were they posting numbers on a site that does not work, changing the numbers all the time, and self-proclaiming themselves as an interim government.

Opposition deputy (and presidential candidate) Jose Brito: "Where the fu*k are your children, Maria Machado? If Milei or Noboa were governing here, there would not have been a bone left unbroken last night!"

Maria Machado, the main US puppet in the opposition, infamously sent her children to the USA before calling for violent uprisings.

Apparently—according to some political consultant on some KPFA show, so probably at least somewhat trustworthy at least as far as the facts go—they are going to coronate KKKopmala by Monday evening (remotely, via Zoom and shit), and she'll announce her VP running mate on Tuesday.

Gonna be another nausea week.
