IDK, maybe when more people here are getting screwed over, libs will radicalize and get off their asses instead of trying to guilt us for not giving legitimacy unconditionally to their favorite “lesser evil” bourgeois party.

Of course, using their meager leverage to extract concessions from the people supposedly representing them never crosses their minds…

Also imagine having the audacity to call us privileged when you see what’s going on in Gaza as a “single issue” instead of an escalation of violence by the ruling class that can and will go back to us.

"well they might be killing arab babies but we have to vote for the party that will save the vulnerable minority groups back home" - someone who thinks that voting for the dems will save any of these groups

Tapping the sign again...

:posting: :posting: :posting:

Half of the electorate does not vote, outnumbering all voters of any persuasion combined.

If you are scolding people about voting, start pounding pavement drumming up those votes. Doorknocking means actually listening to other people's issues and being persuasive, not being a judgemental prick blasting others in yet another moral screed.

No mass line, only votescold only-throw

[-] muad_dibber@lemmygrad.ml 59 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

If I hear one more liberal say single issue, I'm gonna snap. It's like saying, "Oh, you're not gonna vote for hitler just because he wants to kill all the jews and communists, when he has so many other great things planned??? Well I've never been a single issue voter.

If genocide doesn't count as an important enough deal-breaker to these people, they are soulless ghouls who don't deserve rights.

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 58 points 1 month ago

There is no one more privileged than people that treat genocide as a small issue

[-] Tiocfaidhcaisarla@hexbear.net 51 points 1 month ago

Ok, I'll be a multi issue voter then.

What has the current administration done for queer, disabled, or homeless people?

Yeah. The people I know that fit these categories are near unanimously saying Free Palestine

Exactly what I was thinking. No, Republicans aren't going to make things better for queer, disabled, and homeless people, but I was watching the Democrats with hope. My first presidential election I voted for Biden, hoping he could improve mental health care and LGBT+ rights. (and others, but these affect me personally) The party then proceeded to fail to deliver any of that. AND THEN they went to go fund and supply a genocide. Didn't know the bar could go lower but damn if it didn't get down.

"single issue"

Yeah, because outright saying "people don't want to vote for Biden solely because they oppose genocide" would make you sound like a ghoul

[-] TheLepidopterists@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago

Yeah that's the weirdest part.

He also broke the rail strike. He has concentration camps for asylum seekere at the border! He presided over the dismantling of abortion rights, and didn't use the expansive powers the court gave him to protect them. He's funneling weapons to Banderites (gotta be extra careful with this spicy one here, libs love Banderites). He was, relatedly, clearly involved in corruption in Ukraine with his kid. He didn't immediately kill, publicize and disavow the anti-vax conspiracy theory psyop he inherited from Trump.

The truth is that if he was otherwise perfect but still supported genocide, I would be a single issue voter and refuse to vote for him or for Kopmala, but I'm actually not a single issue voter, I already hated this old demonic cadaver.

[-] Zvyozdochka@hexbear.net 24 points 1 month ago

Sorry sweaty, New York Times told me that Azov is reformed now and that they're actually just really wholesome freedom fighters now

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

Also that's not the only reason we hate him anyway, it's just the worst thing he's doing out of a long list

[-] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 46 points 1 month ago

There's a hell of a lot more people who are homeless now than there were before Israel started dropping bombs but you do you I guess

[-] Roonerino@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago

Not to mention that, statistically, Israel has definitely killed thousands of queer Palestinians in Gaza over the last year, and both killed and created many thousands of disabled people too obviously.

It's a deeply unserious take.

[-] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

It's just so self-evidently argument from "I don't care about these peoples' suffering but I can tell you do so I'm going to shove them in your face so I can get what I want" that I'm amazed they think it works.

[-] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago

There are queer people, disabled people, and homeless people in Palestine. Why do they matter less than people where you live?

WHY DO THEY MATTER LESS MOTHERFUCKER? big-honk

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago

I'm friends with a good chunk of the homeless people in town and a lot of my friends who aren't homeless were for a very long time and like 4 work in shelters. When I rented a house with 2 other people our living room basically had a rotation of couch crashers so people could sleep inside, get access to a kitchen and shower. And this wasn't a charity thing, they were just friends of either me or my roommates or usually all 3. I can say with absolute certainty, for the most part homeless people don't care who's in office cause no politician has any urge to help them. Also there are some REALLY reactionary homeless people too, they're disadvantaged people, not your political bludgeon

[-] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Reminds me of this post I made 5 months ago. Might come in handy. Please add onto it and correct me because I'm a LIB about your favorite issue and was spitballing for a couple minutes

I don't think Biden being a pragmatic choice is a settled matter. I haven't seen anything that implies he is a meaningful distinction on things I care about.

none of those communists know a queer, disabled or homeless person

Based on the very small hexbear user base, isn't that many of us western leftists??? The rest of the self described "leftists" in the west are usually just socdems who actually fit that description much more than applies to us.

Hey LIB s, what colour is the party banning homelessness in California?

(cw: genocide of people experiencing homelessness, new york crimes): https://archive.is/vnKRJ

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago

I know accelerationism might not be the best thing, but the way libs talk makes me want Trump to win.

They created the monster that is the modern GOP by voting for an innefectual "lesser evil" that bends over for the right. They supported a weak, anti-left, genocidal Democrat party that refuses to protect its people from fascism and the results is people are going to vote for the other guy because these Libs keep telling them the only thing that can do to change anything is vote.

Well if you aren't going to meaningfully fix the problems people face day to day, and tell them they can't overthrow the government, people are to say "well all I can do is vote for the other guy then.

Liberals will end up with this horrible wet clown as a president and it will be exactly what they fucking deserve.

[-] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Accelerationism is using power or influence to make conditions worse, under the assumption that worse conditions will lead to radical outcomes. We have no power or influence to begin with. What you're describing is schadenfreude.

Accelerationism itself is basically is a myth made up by liberals. It implies the left has the power to make everyone's life substantially worse on a material basis, but every indication shows whatever meager amount of power the left has at its disposal is spent on the exact opposite - things like mutual aid, labor organizing, literacy, political analysis, etc.

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Thanks for clearing that up

[-] Sodium_nitride@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 month ago

The idea of accelerationism goes back quite a bit more actually. For instance, marx once remarked that he will be voting in favour of free trade because it will speed up the contradictions of capitalism.

Accerlationism as making conditions worse to induce radicalise is a gibberish ideology, but accelerationism as making use of capitalism's few "progressive" tendencies is standard marxist practice. Dengism can also be viewed as the latter type of accelerationism.

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 month ago

It's like the 'punchline' from the shitty Joaquin Phoenix joker movie. "You get what you fucking deserve", except this time it actually is a funny punchline because they claim to not want him but do everything in their power to deserve him

more americans should just openly admit they hate people outside their borders

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 month ago

Well, then they lose the "high road", and you know the crackers are obsessed with that concept.

[-] AndJusticeForAll@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's not hatred, it's indifference as well as an ideology that renders anyone outside their own lives as sacrificial red shirts to be used up by global capitalism. They view people the same way they view dormant oil reserves.

[-] mustGo@hexbear.net 37 points 1 month ago

Libs: Wow, you're not gonna let in the serial killer to fix the sink? You want us to be without water? He mostly just kills homeless people! How can you distrust someone for that!?

[-] Tomboymoder@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago

I genuinely hate Americans and I might hate so-called American “leftists” the most

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Deadass; I just want white Amerikans to suffer at this point-- especially the "leftists" whose leftism stops at the red line their realtor drew 20 years ago.

[-] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Sadism doesn't fix anything. Since it's the most obvious argument I can think of off the top of my head that you'd listen to, I'll point out that there are many white Americans who are disabled, queer, etc. and they have white privilege as much as the next cracker, but if there's any truth at all to this "class consciousness" thing, both of you have an interest in being allies more than enemies.

If you want a more genuine argument, well, I do believe what I said was true so my actual take is similar, but it's that a generalized hatred for huge masses of people is effectively the symptom of a social disease, a manifestation of alienation. In general, we should seek to encourage the masses to be better rather than condemn them for not reaching our standards (however righteous those standards are in a vacuum). The left can only make progress as a democratic movement, and democratic movements must, on some practical level, believe in the people in a generalized way rather than hate them, even if it and we are deeply frustrated by the backwardness we frequently encounter.

Disclaimer: I don't mean this as a #NotAllMayos thing since I'm white, you can pray for my suffering until your hands fall off, who cares? Mostly it's that I got into a sordid conversation with some dipshit idealist reactionary on this website recently who was rhapsodizing about the glory and splendor of retributive justice and -- along with being, again, reactionary -- it just rubbed me the wrong way on a personal level.

Disclaimer 2: Fuck whoever does the "single issue voter" line, obviously

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

but if there’s any truth at all to this “class consciousness” thing, both of you have an interest in being allies more than enemies.

Maybe you're right, but again, we loop right back around to "'leftists' whose 'leftism' stops at the red line, stops at putting money on a political prisoner's commissary, stops at even CONSIDERING any kind of intersectional approaches that doesn't see a cracker (and usually a male one at that) in the driver's seat". I've seen too many of them and too much of that.

The only subjects-of-empire that I have time or patience for, for the foreseeable future, unless the unthinkable happens and common trends among the Amerikan left start reversing (with regards to the paternalist reflex that you clearly have, with regards to the "we don't have a race issue just a class issue" complex, with regards to white so-called "leftists" still pearl-clutching over Black nationalism when half the Black revolutionaries y'all uplift were nationalists first and communists second if at all in some cases) are my folk and the tribes who got done just as dirty. I'm not looking to alliance with white folk like that. Certainly not first, certainly not second, maybe not even third.

Like I said. You might be right; but at this point, you can't pay me to put my faith on that dice roll anymore. That's no eleven, that's snake-eyes.

I am queer. Being so contributed to me being hotel homeless last year. Not officially but before that I was disabled from hurting myself for a solid year. Did I miss an extra 600 dollars of Biden bucks somewhere?

[-] hypercracker@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago

solidarity is just fundamentally alien to the liberal

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago

Yes, because we lefties have no issue with the Democrats other than the genocide

[-] sisatici@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago

There is something so wrong accusing someone of having privelage when you are voting for a monster that is the reason children starve to death or die by bombs

[-] Staines@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The wholesale destruction of American settlers that vote for and support a genocide government for any reason is ethical.

[-] kleeon@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

Genocide is a red line. Cope

This isnt even basic international solidarity. This is the basic "have a shred of empathy". If you are ignorant (idk how), there may be an excuse there, but if you know it's a genocide and dont make that a red line, then what kind of fucking person are you?
