Not sure if it's the same mourning Dove as last time but I'm only a little creeped out so it's fine, it's totally fine. This is fine.

What's the matter Birder? Bothered by the birds looking at YOU?

[-] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 months ago

Just a government Surveillance Drone. Nothing to be alarmed about.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

There are no fake birds, there are just not real birds.

Totally innocent! Mourning doves are just the sweetest birds! I’ve always loved them. Used to have quite a few of their nests in my front bushes!

There's a pair of magpies that live around me that like to peek into everyone's windows occasionally.

I haven't been able to use my tall ladder in months, because there's been a mourning dove nest on it. I think they're finally gone.

Awws, that made me smile. Thanks. :)

Is this an old photo then or are they still there?

[-] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Old photo. The nest seems to be empty now.

[-] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Hahaha. Love it. Have you given it some food?

[-] kat_angstrom@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Yup, it's actually standing atop the bird feeder, which was getting close to empty, earning me that Look

It knows full well who fills it up, really liking this photo series of yours, hope there's more to come :)

I have some feral pigeons looking for me through my balcony door. I used to feed a few select ones some sunflower hearts, then i went on a longer vacation and thought afterwards i'll stop doing this. They were also all over the crumbles that the small birds left around the feeders on my balcony.

Now two and a half months later i come back home and i have this breeding pigeon couple on my balcony. I have not set up my feeders again, so i don't attract any other birds until their kids go flying. But the pigeons i fed before came back when they saw me, looking at me all hungry. I am not made for letting them just look at me and not give them anything, makes me feel bad and sad. They came by every day now, hope they stop coming soon.

I now try to only feed the breeding couple a bit, i know their time table for the shifts, so i try to put out some seeds at those times but i already accidently fed another pigeon which looks just like the mother. Such a cute pigeon. She was just sitting with me on the balcony, relaxing at sunset. Man. The pigeons get to me emotionally.
